I see a lot of landscapers using weed wackers to edge grass, do any of you guys use this method?

no i don't use "weed wackers", i either use a string trimmer or a stick edger. depending on the type of grass.

We use string trimmers and they work well as long as you maintain the jobs every week during growing season.

The only weed wackin I do is sitting here in front of my computer looking at all you guys' brand new $12,000.00 Zero turns, but if your wanting to edge, like bill said go get a stick edger, you can buy an Echo for $200 at a dealer or at Home Depot.

Happy Wackin!!!

Use an edge it on your "weed wacker"

I use an edger 9 times out of 10. On certain asphalt driveways where you can't really get a clean edge we'll use the string trimmer.

I use a string trimmer but am looking at buying the edger attachment for the stihl f85 sitting in my garage. I was only using it to do brush cutting(because I have the blade installed on it). I ran this stihl for years as my string trimmer with no probs, then bought 2 used shin's when i bought out a guy and have been running the shin's. However, I'm seriously considering going back to the stihl. It sits in the garage for months on end without use and when I pull it out, starts up within one or two pulls. The friggin shin's just dont do that even when warm and have been used all day. But I digress...string trimmers will get the job done until you can afford to get an edger which is good for that bi weekly service that you should charge for, not do as part of the basic package, IMHO...

I use a trimmer along bed edges and a edger along concrete.

String-trimmers work very well as long as you take the time to establish a gap in which to maintain the edge. Make sure you have quality string, long pants and eye protection.

i use a string trimmer with .105 diameter line for edging
