You can't knock the old equipment first, based on it's age, and second, unless you've ran a sweeper like that and know what it does. I have first hand knowledge of that sweeper's capabilities and performance, and can tell you that these things don't fool around. It will do CIRCLES around any ztr or mower for vacuuming and sweeping areas both in heavy stuff, and lighter wide area. The leaf vacuum might be a bit old, but so what - if it works. As far as the truck,..well, that speaks for itself. It is a classic, and is still functioning. To go and call someone else's stuff "junk", I feel, is totally uncalled for. Sometimes, the old stuff is the good stuff. Even if it isn't in a particular case, it is what a person has to use. I can say ONE thing,...his leaf vacuum works better than MINE! lol

The turf sweepers work awesome even on windrow's of clippings and they do an awesome job striping. Some day when I can afford it I'll have one with high dump.

His setup is about 70 times better than my leaf setup (homemade chute blocker and bagger, and a rake:)) The fact is the equiptment works, and probably works better than alot of other peoples setup!!! Thats fine if you dont like his stuff just dont bash him for it.
BTW I think the truck is a 1954 chevy 6400, if you search that I think the orginal thread with his truck comes up

And there is no junk there, Just $$$$.$$'s
If you painted it red w/ a black body, It would make alot of people jelous. not to mention it would look like a true classic.

The fire alarm goes off for a structure fire! Try keeping your cool on that one.

KC, If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? (You don't have to answer). But as I read your post about sitting at the station, waiting for the alarm to go off, it reminded me of a cool show we had on tv back in the '70's. It was called Emergency. It was about a L.A. County fire station (mainly the two man paramedic team). It was a really good show. I just thought this may be a little before your time. Anyone who knew this show will NEVER forget the 3 tone ring for their calls. An interesting fact, that the dispatcher that would then call out on the p.a. telling the address and such(before our computers and auto printout) was actually a real L.A. Co. dispatcher in real life. :)
Ok,...sorry to havehijacked this thread. Now, maybe we can get back to it's ORIGINAL content and purpose.

If punt had half of a brain he would realize that the attention that the truck gets due to its age and prestine condition is actually very good marketing. How often do you see an international 4600 or freightliner business class or chevy 45/5500 or ford 4/550 running down the road and probably wouldn't pay any attention to it. However when you see a truck of this era and condition comming down the road you will probably remember the name thats on the side:clapping::clapping::drinkup::drinkup:
No that i am in a better mood this morning i would like to apologize to the original poster for my less than encouraging tactics. However the fact remains i would not rely on that equipment for my business. I am a lover of many things old myself. I do think the truck is interesting. I restore muscle cars and build harley trikes so i am no stranger to nostalgic. However i would never rely on that old stuff to make my living and would never put that sweeper on my customers property. And to your question, would i remember his truck as an advertising tool? Sure would. There are a few old junkers in my town i remember every day. Never subed any work to them because they dont look professional. Their tree guys. I saw a guy in town taking down trees with a newer bucket, tractor, and incredible climbing skills. I stopped to say hello and 5 years and about 300+ trees and counting later he has all my tree work. I wouldnt have stopped if it were the other guys.

Sorry to add to Runner's hijack but gotta add...
Runner, also most of the firefighters on the show that made up the engine crew and extras on scenes were actually real LA County firefighters. I love that show (in re-runs on TV Land) growing up to where I am now.
Now I'm 2 months away from my state paramedic boards for the state. I'll be one of the youngest ones out there (21) when I get my medic card. I work PT with just about FT hours at a private ambulance company with a large 911 contract, while going to school FT for a bachelors in EMS Mgmt. and hope to get on a paid FD before I graduate in '10.
It's a PITA sometimes but I love it, and love landscaping...This summer I worked 40+ hrs in 5 days a week for a prop maintenance company, 18-24 hrs. a weekend for the ambulance company and 12 hours of school each week for just about the entire summer. Seemed like it dragged on forever, but I made some bank and managed A's.
Sorry to help hijack, and I know you didn't ask me Runner but...
Take care of yourselves you guys!
