Just what you see what would you estimate this lawn at for weekly service. NO sides, NO backyard. Just seeing if we estimate alike.

$25.00 per cut. I'd be gone in 15 minutes or less.

Same here $25. Make sure to edge it up nice and angle it whenever you have the time and it will look good. That looks like the neighborhood I work. I have about 40 accounts, most w/back yards and I charge about $120/month and I do a little shrub and small tree trimming/pruning and leaf clean up.

These lawns won't make you rich, but they will make your day "like butta."

well I knew I was giving them a deal. That lawn there was done for $20 all year last year. It has 2 sides and a backyard. they refused to pay anymore cause that is what they were paying.

I charge a minimum of $35.00 a cut- of course I include all bushes, pruning the trees, blowing the roof (4x a yr). If I get a referal from them to a house in sight I'll drop it to the range previously mentioned.

Cordially,

I'd charge $35.00 w/sides and back incl. + bushes trimmed and trees pruned. (no roof blowing though) But dont worry, for every one of those customers out there that are like that there are 3 that are willing to pay a fair amount. By the way my price reflects what my market area will bear. But in my opinion 20 is too cheap no matter where your at.
I do like the referral thing though. I might have to try that.

Hey RB, when you said "like butta", did you mean "smoooov" lol

$35, since that is my minimum. Also, since its a warm season grass you would be having to edge every week.

$25 for the picture you showed. How big is the back? If it is just a small back I would still say $25. It is nice and flat. Does not appear to be too much trimming. Even with a small back you should still be gone in 15 min.

$30.00 + tax Cut, trim, edge, & blow. No bushes I'd do that by the hour.

Jason,
Cut,Trim,Edge, and Blow I'd charge $25.00. I would most likely be in and out in 20 minutes. Hope this helps you out.

I would say $25.00 , no less than that unless they give you extra work throughout the year or you have picked up account next door from their referal.

If you have work in the area I would not give it up unless it wasn't cost effective.

Harvestman,

Are you required to charge tax on services. Here we are not. It just seems like that would be alot of extra hassle. Anyway $35 is our minimum to stop the truck and that buys you about 25 minutes so pruning could be added in if they were on a contract.

Jason, I'm not sure I understand. Your first post says no sides and no backyard. If that were the case, I would go $25 and be done in about 20 minutes. If I got other work from them throughout the season (pruning, aerating, etc.) and could get a couple nearby neighbors lawn where I wouldn't have to move the truck, I would even consider going as low as $20.

BUT, your next post says there IS sides and a back, so that changes everything.

The backyard is somewhat small. There is a large side to. But was just convincing my self that I was to cheap. When they called last year they asked my price. I said I would have to give them an estimate. She said well we payed $20 and we are looking for that. So after a week I had to go with it. I could not get them to go higher. So I figured it is one more lawn.

Jason I have some lawns at $10 and $15 believe it or not. But they are 0 line lots!

I'd do it for that, including string trimming, blowing, pruning as needed (minor, nothing major), light hauling, trimming shrubs for shoots and shape, and edging the walks, unless they absolutely didn't want them edged.

I would say anywhere from $20 to $25, but some guys in my area would do it for no more than $15....

wow!!!!

Sorry,
i don't drop the gate for less than $45 which would include:
mow, edge, trim shrubs, prune, and blow debris.

it'll be more if you got a gate less than 42" to the backyard.

i guess that's why i don't do any like that.

if they even hesitate on my price quotes, i turn and walk away or go up in price.

Time is money.....i don't have $60k in equipment to cut my own throat!!

Here is what I don't get. Maybe I am different but I don't cut the bushes when I come out. If you want those cut it will be on a different day. I dont have time to do bushes. I have customers tell me that to. Can you cut the bushes every other week? What for just cut them once a year maybe 2 they will be fine.

I gave the estimate on the assumption that this would be an ongoing account, meaning, every week. I don't want anyone to associate my name with anything that doesn't look good. Hence, I do what's needed, preventative-like, so it doesn't build up, look shabby, and need 5 hours of work at once. That's why I can do it for $35/visit. I wouldn't be there but about 30 minutes.

If I had another house right near it, i'd say $30.00 a week. Otherwise, if its a (1) stop deal... probably $40.00 a week.

Looks to be around 1500-2000 square foot by the picture, Jay?

If that's the case I can do it weekly (mow, edge, trim, blow - no pruning) for between $60-$80/month, averaging between $45-$50/hour each stop. Now, that's the area I live in where half of the time this quote would be mocked, laughed at, or I would simply get hung up on. I seem to be the only person in my area who understands the slightest thing about 'cost of doing business'.

A lot of folks on this site live in areas where most lawns far exceed 10,000 square foot, so they can set a $35 minimum stop fee and get away with that. There's maybe a handful of lawns in my town that large and, since I only close half my bids, I would be stuck cutting 2 1/2 lawns a week at $35 each if I chose those rates.

As you can tell by the range of responses, pricing varies widely from state to state, or even city to city. You'll find your niche as you go. Measure your properties, time your cuts, and, most importantly, figure out how much you need to make to be in business for yourself. That means figuring up everything including the cost of your own health care and retirement, and all of it should go into your pricing. If you can make your living, legitimately, on lawns that size for around $20/cut, then you're doing fine. If you cannot, raise 'em or drop 'em when you've got another one to replace it on your schedule (one that pays!).

$20, anywhere, is fine for 'about 20 minutes' worth of work, as most here said they could get that lawn done in. That's $60/hour and if you're running solo, on the job just seven hours a day, that's $420/day. That's good money for a solo op, IMO, no matter where you live. ;)

My price of $35 is for cutting only. Any add-ons would be seperate.

roscioli

As the question asked, $35 per mow. Add ons are separate. That price would include nothing but the mowing, and an occasional blow if needed. That is based on my area, with my grass, and assuming its fertilized correctly. $35 is basically my minimum, I have one law that is $25, but it takes me 5 minutes with the 21, and its right on my route.

Trim, Mow, Blow, and GO! $35.00 + 6% PA sales tax = $37.10 Thats just for the front.

If all they ever paid was $20, just tell them that you can't do it for $20, and give them your price, take it or leave it! Your the BOSS here, they're asking you for a price. Don't let customers dictate price......EVER!

$35 + Sales tax here as well.

Did you ever think they may have been paying $25 or more, but just fed you the line they were paying $20 to see if you bit?

No they were legit on the price they said they were paying. I had seen another company with that price. I gave them my price and after a few days I came down to $20 cause that is $20 that I don't have.

I also have done what one of you posted. I estimate the time it took us to do lawns and made a price around it. I came out at about 40 to 50 an hour. That is at the $20 rate like you said. I am going to up my cost this year to $25 and see if it sells here.

The neighborhood I am working in has very nice homes. Less than 8 years old I would say. Most around the $300,000 to 700,000 range. So they should be able to afford some Lawn care.

I must agree with captdevo, we all have thousands of dollars invested in our equipment...trucks, trailers, mowers, misc stuff....I only have a small/moderate operation and have about $125K invested with 2 crews mowing all day. I have never charged less than $30 bucks to drop the gate. Even for a small town-home.

$25 sounds fair. It would take from start to finish...no more than 20 minutes.

I would n't let these shisters dictate the price either.
