We were doing a commercial account and my employee broke the cover off a car mirror. Dont know how much it will cost yet. It went back on, but Im not sure if it is broken.

That is just part of the business that sucks. I would not file a minor claim like that on my insurance. I would make sure that the employee is more careful in the future assuming it was truely an accident and not him screwing around.

Suck it up and pay any damage that was done. This is part of owning a business and the responsibilities that come with it. Warn the employee if it happens again he will be helping fix it next time. Like the above post says, "don't file claim", I did this and my insurance company raised my rate.

No, I know enough not to file a claim on something that small.

I'm not sure I understand. How do you not know if it was really damaged?

Because he came to me with the mirror cover in his hand and said he thought it would just snap back on.

If the guy is a good employee, I'd write it off, not even rib him about it. It's all part of doing business. We've all had accidents in the past. I'm sure this one isn't the first and it sure as hell won't be the last. :)

Did it just snap back on? Its pretty easy to tell if its damaged or not, no scratches, no parts broken, snaps back into place with all the tabs undamaged, and its good to go.
