48" bob cat belt drive blades quit working today. Mower still runs fine and kill switch for the blades still works when I pull the PTO switch up but nothing from the blades. Where is my problem? Thanks for the help

If we assume the belt is in place, Check the clutch plug connector and make sure both wires are hooked up, Check for voltage to the clutch if none check for voltage to the switch.
Would need to know what engine (model numbers) rope or electric start to go any further.

Check the fuse. Believe its a 20 amp.

I checked the fuse and it appears to be ok. It is a 10 amp. I took a multi tester and tested the connection at the pto switch. I am new to using a multi tester and there are several connection slots there. I tried everyone to see what result they got. One slot reads 17 on the tester and another reads 5. The other slots had no reading. I then tested the connector in the line before before the wiring goes under the deck. I recieved no reading at this point any which way I tried.

OK,
When you got the 17 on one slot did you have the PTO switch on ? If not try again with the switch on and see if you get 17 on another slot.

Make sure the machine is running when you test for voltage. The power for the electric clutch comes from the voltage regulator. Also check your grounds.
Probably the operator presence switch. I have replaced far more of those than the PTO switches. Power comes up from the engine, through the PTO switch, through the operator presence switch and then down to the clutch.

Go to the parts section, lookup your model number and you can get a wiring diagram.
Be careful though about the parts if you do need that switch I mentioned. I told them to fix it but not sure if they have yet or not. Sometimes I have found one switch listed on the wiring diagram and a different one listed on the upper handle parts area...They had an older models switch listed in one spot...basically a 2 wire switch instead of a 4 wire...

If the operator pressence switch is bad will the mower still keep from shutting off when I try to engage the blades. I know when I pull out the PTO if I am not holding the handles down then the mower will shut down. I replace the PTO and it was not that.
If its a fairly recent model bobcat yes it will still shutdown. The switch is actually 2 switches in one. It has 2 poles. One of them controls the engine kill circuit, the other controls the blade circuit. Usually its the blade circuit side that dies in that switch.

Just want to thank everyone that helped with my problem. Everyone was a big help since I do not have the best skills at repairs. It finally came down to the operator presence switch. Even though the dealer gave me the wrong switch (a two prong instead of a four prong) it has my blades working again. With the two prong it overides the kill switch and the blades still run without an operator there. Real safety issue but will be fixed tomorrow as I will pick up the right part. $6 part a little bit of a headache finding it but was well worth the trouble and money saved. Thanks again.
