I am a supplier in the Chicago market and I am currently setting my product offering for 2009. I am asking for different opinion's out there on what product to carry for pre-emergent & fertilzer combo's. I will have the standards of Dimension, Barricade, and Pendimethlin. However I am having trouble deciding between Team Pro and Team as a cost efficient, cheap pre-emergent. I have been given good pricing on both products from my suppliers but I know that Team has been out of play for a while and been replaced by Team Pro. (my pricing on Team is much better than Team Pro, I'm just afraid nobody will buy it if I choose to go that route) Does anybody out there have a prefernce between the 2 products or does it not matter.

My opinion is just carry Pendi and Dimension, I tried Barricade this season and I like 2 apps of Dimension best and actually Pendi better but hate the yellow mess but with all of them 2 apps IMO is best

Whats the difference between the two? AI %? I used Team once and had to many breakthroughs. I'll never do that again. I understand Team is a 60 day pre, not good enough even for split apps IMO.

Ro,
Yes, cost efficient is good! Team Pro did fine in 2000. Results from John Stier.

Not sure of the difference between and Team and Team Pro--doesn't Team Pro have a little more triflurilin so it is longer lasting? Are you planning on .86 percent or 1.5 pounds per acre? If you went higher it would work better and potentially the northern states could get 15,000 sqft from a bag--saving on shipping, bagging and trips back to the truck to refill. A lower percent of slow-release coated ingredient would save a few dollars and hardly anyone would notice. I prefer about a 13-0-5. The mowing companies and some southern states prefer a low nitrogen product say a 5-0-5. Bermuda is still brown. They have disease problems on fescue. If you could substitute lime for nitrogen it might help the more acid soils of the southern areas. Thanks for asking. Anybody agree with these ideas? Good luck with Team--or not?

Thanks to all for the response. The cost difference between team & team pro is almost $3.00 per bag, a very significant saving's. The team I am thinking about selling is 20-3-5 20% SCU 1.15% Team. This will be in addition to a full line of other pre-emergents (Dimension, Barricade, & pendimethalin). The reason I am thinking of carrying this product is when thinking like a supplier I have to consider evryone's likes, dislikes, and price point. we all know some pre-emergents work better than other's but some for some customers no matter how hard you try to get them into better performing product the $ always win's. I completly understand and respect that, this is why I am thinking of selling a product with a low price point. I just don't want to sell somthing that others have had a bad experience with regardles of price point. I am no longer working in the field (not since 1999) so I am using you guys as my eyes and ears. Thanks again

Why the phosphates? Many cities here say I can't use it. Why the slow release? I would rather use an all mineral product to promote a quick green-up in the spring. Whats the difference between Team and Team Pro? More AI?

In Illinois while most of our fert is zero phosphorous it is still perfectly legal to apply it and plenty of customers still request it. Most spring product around here does have some slow release and 25%-30% is the norm. Team is 2 parts Balan to 1 part Treflan and applied at 2lbs AI per acre. While Team Pro is 1 part Balan to 1 part Treflan and applied at 1.5 lbs AI per acre. Both very similar products but for some reason Team has been pushed aside.

RO1207, you stated that you are in the Chicago market. Where are you located, as I am always looking for a competitive supplier.
