I have an everride warrior with a kohler 27HP comand pro motor on it. It has 128 hours on it. and ive changed my oil every 50 hours.(filter also) Its been smoking really bad when it starts and idles but when its reved up it doesnt smoke. Also ive been going through a half QRT of oil every day of use.

What could be the problem, has anyone else ever had this problem? any thoughs are helpful. Thanks!

Nick,

Although not as common on the 27, It sounds like you may have a blown head gasket. A cylinder leak-down test would show this if that's the case.

If it is blown replace both sides at the same time and while the heads are off check the breather reeds for cracks and reed block mating surfaces for any burrs.

Good Luck

I would have to agree with Rob. It is probably a head gasket. A crankcase vacuum test would be a good idea too. Also you may simply pull the spark plugs and see if one looks to be running normal and the other is getting oil fouled. That's a pretty good indication you may have a bad head gasket. If you do find that to be the case make sure you check the heads for flatness before you put it back together.
