Does Kawasaki make a Donaldson air cleaner assy for the FH500? I bought the mower used, and the spec tag is gone, but its on a 2001 Toro Z147.
If not, could I use the set up from the big block kaws?
Thank you.

I should be able to find your spec# but you will need to get me the numbers that are stamped on the body of your carburetor.

Per the 2004 Kawasaki update book.......
The old stamp format was 4 numbers and a letter example (4439B)
1. Add 31 in the front of the stamping number
2. Add 6100 after the stamping number
3. Move the letter to the end.
4. The example carburetor part number would be 314439-6100B

The New Stamping Format is 5 numbers with no letter. exp (32349)
1. Add 1500 before the stamping number
2. In the example, the carburetor part number would be 15003-2349

Some of the newer units have the complete part number printed on the carburetor.

Looking at the FH500 parts book online, I don't think they did. To change over from the flatpack filter to the Donaldson would require an adapter to go from the carb flange to a round tube. Once you have that, you can route the intake air by way of radiator hoses or formed air intake hoses. You would also need a mount for the air cleaner. The 35HP Briggs I bought had the Donaldson but it would have required cutting the seatpan on the Gravely to fit. Moved the air cleaner back by the mounting hole spacing to clear and then used formed radiator hose to reconnect it. Worked fine. You'd need to have the mount and adapter made but it would give you a better filter than stock.

I too thought about doing this to my Kawi on my turf tracer HP,mainly because I have a complete donaldson filter assembly lying around and have about 12 new filters for it!But was told not to because it would be too restrictive on the air intake versus the OEM filter assembly, apparently too much even if you were to adjust the carb for it.If you find out different, please let me know, the donaldson filter is so much better than the OEM type!

It would work, but you DO have to rejet the carb. It would run too lean by putting the donaldson on it alone. Kawasaki also has different jets from left to right side to equalize the burn rate.

I don't think they make cluesticks that big.

There is no reason that I know of that would prevent it from working. An engine is just an air pump. It can only pull in so much air and a freeflowing filter isn't going to change the air/fuel ratio a carb produces,
