I have a STIHL BR420C Magnum blower that is running hot, it cranks up fine and runs fine but starts to get "very" hot.

I figure its carbon build-up in the muffler, but im not sure.

Has anyone had any similar issues with their BR420c and was it a muffler issue?

What kind of 2-cycle oil are you using and at what ratio? If you determine it is carbon build-up, I would recommend looking at he Amsoil Saber Professional 100:1 mix. Here is a link for more information. Also search this oil on LS as it has been discussed greatly with very positive results.

Remember, as a commercial account you save 20-30% off retail prices shown on my website. Commercial accounts cost you nothing with no minimums or purchasing quotas to fill.

I've always used Stihl or Redmax brand 2-cycle oil, 50:1 mixture.

it shouldn't be carbon build up. My experience, the engine will make a different kind of tone, almost like it will not get full power. Second, the engine will hardly run at full throttle. Most of the time, it will start and idle, and when you give it gas, it bogs.

It doesnt sound any different, and the power seems to be normal.
Its just really hot, its gotta be the the catalytic converter in the muffler, or just carbon thats overheating it.

Im scared to run it hot, just dont want the engine to lock up.
