to tell you the truth, ive only seen two mowing in my area. a few dealers carry the brand, and i took a good look at one last week at the conex show. the independent suspension on the riders look like a great set up. they look really well built and can withstand a lot. they look at lot like the derby mowers made by simplicity, so im not sure if its one of those MTD type deals where some parts are cheap and dont hold up well. maybe somebody with more experience on this will post.

Their WBs are great. We've been using them (48's, 52's, and 61's, all hydros) for the past 7 or 8 years.

Have no problems getting parts. And my dealer and distributor say they're a good outfit. Recently, they were acquired by Simplicity.

We have (2) 52'' hydro walk behinds and a 36'' belt walk, and there mint. Wouldn't buy a different brand.

i find they are rarely mentiuoned here.

but where i am they dominate, in numbers, by far. and my dealer sells more of em than any other (and yes, the dealer carries exmark and DC.)

course that doesn't make them the best. i've been told by some dealers that ferris WB better than exmark, but lazer better than ferris Z. take that for what its worth.

I bought a new 52" hydro WB last year and I love it. Thing is
built like a tank, and really cuts nice. I've got the 17 hp
Kawi on mine. Plenty of power.

Can't say anything bad about it.

We owned three of the I/S riders and I am now proud to say that I was able to get rid of them!

I have to ask is this because of the new bladerunner?

Rebel,
Do you have an IS sitting in the shop (all season)?

Actually no it is not the reason that I got rid of the ferris mowers.

Accurate lawn no that is not my machine.

I have a 3000 IS and it has been a reliable machine. The derby is basicaly a Ferris with a Simplicity deck. I have only heard 1 person here talk bad about them and never any specifics.

Ferris makes some tough machines. I havn't had any trouble out of mine. Ferris also makes the derby mowers. I havn't found a single difference between the two, execpt the Derby is a little cheaper. I think they just paint them a different color and sell the derbies cheaper to build market share or something.

I have two Ferris Dual-Drive Hydro walkbehinds, a 48 and a 61 and I love them. They are built bulletproof! The hydro pumps are directly bolted to the hydro motors....no hydraulic hosess to break.
Check out the controls on the WBs. There's a foot operated neutral...it's alot more efficent than the thumb locks on most mowers.
I just put my Exmark Turf-Tracer 52 up for sale to replace it with another 48 Ferris.
I have nothing but good things to say about them.

Never seen one in action but test drove a buch of them at the Expo. I loved their big diesel full suspension ZTR. Asked my dealer what they knew about them and he said they looked at this udes one that had been used one and a half seasons and the shocks went out. Said it road completely uneven and cost a FORTUNE to fix. Guess it is hard to replace thoes coil overs.
