yea see the thing is im wanting a backpack blower, but i just havent got one yet basically...but I'm 22 and still in college but own everything you have seen, plus more various stuff not shown...2 more smaller trailer (flatbed and 10 ft), but since im still young enough i might ask santa for a backpack blower..haha...the shop is nice..it has a bathroom, office all the good stuff, and in missouri I'm from higginsville...small town about 4500, go to school at ucm while mowing my butt off when i dont have class...but I have a few more purchases I have been wanting..like i said the gator is on its way...and getting another deere next year...and I believe thats all I can afford right now...thanks for taking the time and looking

Collegepro
10-22-2008, 10:15 PM
i usually just do all of my bagging clients in one or 2 days..so i just have my walker on the trailer but sometimes on a huge house like that one i only have 4 to 5 dumps so i smash it to the front the trailer and lift the deck of the walker and it all fits...but i take the clippings to our farm about 5 miles out and feed it to the cattle..

HOw do you like your deere and dixon?

Collegepro
10-22-2008, 10:35 PM
I tell you what the deere is a beast...I have a striper kit for it and love it...did a demo on the 800 series and hated them so i didnt do my trade in and waiting on seeing what they will come out with next year...i try to stay walker or john deere cause we have them as dealers in town...but that dixon isent to bad..i let my dad usually use that for the yard and I use it if something breaks down but its not used to often but i do like it

KCfireman

You should love it. If your getting a cab with doors you may want to consider the Powertach blade that has the hydraulic angle. I'm counting the days until snow right now.

The weather experts say Kansas is in for a brutal winter. I thought last year bad enough. Last year we had a 2 week span where the temps didnt even get into the double digits. They hovered right around 5 degrees and during the night dipped well below freezing. And we got some good amounts of snow.

Did you say you're getting a Gator? What are you getting?

Ryan, have you used a gator before for snow? I'm debating wheter or not to go with a gator, or an atv, or a compact tractor with loader for my snow route. I am a full time student so whatever I get i want to be quick. Let me know how you like that gator. I see it is the diesel so you have lots of power eh?

Hey thanks, but i do want the smaller "vehicle" becuase i need it for residencial driveways and trucks dont fit too well or if they do, they do lots of turf damage etc. Anyway, you say you liked the quad, and guys get a lot of snow I know. For me i like to get about 2 or 3 drivewyas an hour with all the walks and paths cleared. Like i said i'm a full time student so time is an issue, and LOTS of business comes from not using a large plow truck on residential properties. Maybe a used machine for me. not too happy about spending 12-15K if I can't pay it off in at least one season. there is only so much money i can make with a gator.....Snow, large mulch properties, what else?

Collegepro
10-23-2008, 12:17 AM
haha yes i hear you man...I am a full time student also..have been for wow 5 years so...thats why i am still in school cause its been to hard to manage school and work...but yea i liked the quad it was good...i have a hoa that has 15 houses right now..and the 4 wheeler was good for driveways..the gator is not to big for driveways but just big enough for bigger properties..i dont have a plow on my truck...might come in handy later down the road who knows...but yes gator is good for...well spraying, snow, mulch, giving chicks rides (ha), i mean there things you can do..but yes 12 to 15k for sure is what i am gonna spend...so its just a decision your gonna have to make.

Well you gotta figure bud, How much can i make one one average size storm? on a large storm? How many, (on average) storms do we have a year? What my goal is not is to be making from 800-1200 in profit per storm. Last year I was making about 400-600 per storm with six hours and a simplicity 13 hp 38 inch snow blower. It took between 6 or 8 hours, so $ per hour was good, but not enough to keep me going in the long run.

Collegepro
10-23-2008, 12:25 AM
well yes that all depends on how many snows you have, how many times they want you to push, and how long it will take you..bigger and faster eqiupment means faster push times and more money, but since you paid more money for the better equipment was it worth it..that all depends on how long you are in the business and how many more accounts you can get..i mean i dunno..im getting like 30 bucks per driveway..and it takes like 15 min to do that and shovel the sidewalks..so its whatever you think would help you

How do you like the stihl blower vac? Thinking of purchasing one before the fall.

Collegepro
10-23-2008, 12:30 AM
ohh its not bad really, and it can be used as a blower also..so 2 in 1 cant beat that..and its good just to have, works good with hard places to reach like leaves in corners and what not

Never used one before. I'm expecting good things though. I think it will get good traction and have plenty of power. I was looking for efficiency for small to medium residential driveways.
