I don't have the part number in my brain but I can get it for you in the morning. In fact, I believe I may have that electric motor in stock at my Wareham location. Give me a call in the morning @ 508-291-6152 and ask for Pete. I'll be able to help you then.

Those motors are absolute junk and are not even MADE for exterior use!!

They are made by RAE Corporation, and a former rep from that company told me to my face at a trade show several years ago that the Truckster motors were originally intended for use in interior applications, primarily targeted toward low-speed, intermittent-use operations in manufacturing equipment.
He also went on to say that "he wasn't surprised to see that Lesco was having problems with them, especially around SALT".

This information was backed up a year or two later when I climbed the ladder at Lesco trying to get satisfaction on a warranty problem with one of these motors.
A fellow named Pete Thompson, who at that time apparently was in charge of the WHOLE Lesco equipment she-bang in Cleveland, agreed to send me a brand new motor free of charge.
He agreed with everything the former RAE rep had told me, but then he proceeded to push the envelope of blame to another Lesco equipment guy that had made a stupid buying decision long before he was promoted.

Thanks for helping Marcos. You really do know how to add to a post. I believe he was asking for a location to purchase one and NOT a ramble on how much they suck. Your post doesn't help him one iota. Once again you used someone's post to put down LESCO/John Deere Landscapes. Your crusade against them is very old and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's grown tired of it.

Humble, have you found one yet?

I tried buying direct or without paying the huge Lesco markup. I contacted RAE for the name of a distributor who sold that motor. I was told it was a special run made for Lesco only and no other distributors handled it. Therefore I was stuck buying from Lesco.

I ended up "rebuilding" my truckster motor. The problems I found were that the brushes needed to be cleaned and the the magnets seperated from the motor housing. The bearings were fine so all I did was clean the inside of the housing real good and then epoxy the magnets back in place and clean the brushes. Motor runs like new. It is all rusted but runs good now. LECSO/JD wanted something like $180 for a new motor. I told them to take a crap and fall in it.

Marcos may have said it in a way I may not have, and didn't help with Humble finding one, but he is correct. I failed my first one, even after trying to waterproof it. That motor does not belong in the application it is being used as. I no longer use the spreader much since buying my T3000 and am a fan of JDL but they should really change that motor.

Oh....so I tried to make a few folks on lawnsite aware of an old Lesco cover-up, before Deere bought them.

BIG DEAL!

Maybe if you'd get your head pulled out the bucket of JD/Lesco green paint once in awhile....
YOU'D be the one to uncover bull&#!+ maneuvers like this!

It doesn't help when you try to waterproof them, believe me!
Any addition of silicone or anything like that to the seams on the outside, only serves to insulate the heat produced within the motor for a longer peroid of time; which will of course contribute to the motor burning up even faster.

Write the JDL tech dept and tell them your exact feelings!
I hope by God they're more responsive and proactive than the old Lesco equipment tech services people in Cleveland.
If not...sorry...you're S.O.L! :waving:

Good for you for exposing this "cover up". Now you're a Private Investigator, right? You sound like a jack of all trades - master of none.

That's the problem. I don't have my head in a bucket of JDL/Lesco green paint, YOU DO! You're the one who slanders them left and right at every opportunity. You act like all they do is "do you wrong". If that's the case, quit your bitching and move along. Have a happy day!:cool2:

I don't see anywhere on Lawnsite where you've been nominated or voted the "keeper of the JD/Lesco reputation"... by lawnsite visitors around the nation.
Do you?

Hey! I'm not a "P.I"!
Call it nothing less than a public service.... alerting folks like Humble1 to past Lesco fumbles like what Mr. Thompson readily admitted to me!!

Lesco was once quite a name in the green industry, Cobra!
They once had some of the best tech people...and sales people in this industry, BAR NONE!
They once could claim fame to some of the best manufacturing facilities of fertilizers in the WORLD.

What happened to Lesco, in a nutshell?
(Are you a good SPELLER, Cobra?)
They elected to piss what they had away... in the name of
G-L-O-B-A-L-I-Z-A-T-I-O-N

So ...quit trying to "CONTROL" others who might have input, ideas and/or criticisms!
For you to come on here and try to defend and/or "mask over" this issue you obviously you know little or nothing about is absolutely LUDICROUS!

Are there any former Lesco equipment or tech people employed by John Deere now, maybe at JD tech services or somewhere?
Why don't you take 5 minutes out of your selling time, to get in touch with one of them about it?
This will likely verify what I've said...and you'll probably learn a few OTHER things, too!

And have a "Happy Day" yourself! :wall
