Will late fall fertilizer promote snow mold?

It can. If you apply it too early and too much N, then it causes a surge of new growth that has been linked to increases in snowmold. I try to put mine down when the grass stops growing.

Thanks Lawn Tamer, I would agree. However, we are getting conflicting recommendations from the University of Minnesota. Nothing new. I'll post the link later.

From what I have read LawnTamer is right on. I have always tried to get it down within two weeks of when the grass stops growing.
