View Full Version : Problem with Lesco HPS

I seem to have a lot of belt slippage with my Lesco HPS. Looking at the unit, it appears to me that there is no adjustment possible to tighten the belt, and the only remedy is to replace the belt. Am I correct, or is there something that I am missing? Is there another possible cause? I have checked the tension pulley, and it is moving easily.
Thanks for any help.

sounds like the belt possibly stretched out. I would replace that. And while you are at it, probably replace the idler pulley also. Those things seem to have a short life.

I no longer have a hps but when I did have it I was having a problem on hills with the belt slipping. I took it in and they did adjust the belt tension. I cant remember how but there is an adjustment. I was standing there talking to a friend instead of watching it getting adjusted.

I have had to adjust mine several times in the past. The way i do is to loosen what i guess is the idler pulley nut (it is on top right near the motor) and then reach under and pull the idler pulley and belt as tight as you can and then retighten the nut at the same time. Hope this helps.

Also you may need to get some "belt dressing". It is a spray that stops fan belts from squeaking and makes the belt slightly sticky--grips better. Get your new belt at TSC--prices are low. Easier to measure if you get it before it breaks.

Thanks guys,
Took another look at that idler pulley and adjusted the spring tension. I think I could climb a mountain with it now.
Thanks for the help.
