i love this part of the story because you know that gas raises in 50 cent increments all on speculation but drops by pennies.

"Gas prices are off from their July peak by about a third compared with the price of crude, which has been more than halved.

There is a lag between the two prices as oil being traded now will not be delivered until next month. That oil must be refined, or turned into gasoline, and then shipped to filling stations."

Found a link you all might be interested in. I have a brother in the energy business. He says that at $65/barrell, gas should be at around $1.70 a gallon

The same people that were taking a bath when oil was $150 a barrel. That worked out to $3.57 for each gallon of crude. Refine it, add taxes, profits for every hand in the pot, the pipeline companies, local distributors and the gas station profits. That's a recipe for a gasoline cost of way over $4 a gallon. We were paying how much for gas? They were/are making money on deisel but they were loosing money on gas.
