I'm in Jackson, MS...if i were to dig a foot into the gournd i would have dirt/soil not clay, mostly centipeed grass but a good bit of st. augistine and bermuda. My lesco dealer closed and last year i would go to them and ask them what to put out and they would tell me, i have no one to turn to now....looking back and reciets last year this is what i bought
Feb- PRE-m 5-10-20
March- PRE-m 25-2-5
April- ?
May- 24-5-11
i need some advise of what i should put out when, i'm not trying to get really specific on treating certain stuff, i just need an all purpose fert program to get the grass growing and looking good, grannular is all i'm allowed to do b/c i'm not licenced yet.

Check out some of your local farm supply,(feed, seed,fert.),stores. A lot of these type places have personnel who are very knowledgable about the questions you have. Farmers use many of the same products we do,but just in larger quantities. I get all my lawn chemicals at a local farm store at much better prices than Lecso has, and the sales people are really knowledgable about the products they sell.:)

How about a county extention office, usually affiliated with an area Agri/Horticultural college. Any local master gardener programs? Fertilizer wholesalers/ Mfgs such as Farmland CO-OP should have someone on staff to advise.

Pre-m is a pesticide and getting caught by the EPA would cost you thousands.

Pre-m is a herbicide, but in a sence you are correct, because a weed is a pest.
He will be more worried about the department of agricultcure.
$2,500 and up fine here.
Contact BWI in Jackson Miss, tell them the Lawngodfather and Ed Barsanti from St. Louis sent you.
Also tell them you don't want anything with a 'cide in it, your not licnensed and they will make sure they don't sell you anything with a herbicide or a pesticide in it.

I went to the local BWI, very large intimidating place compared to the lesco that i'm used to, but i walked in and got lots of help. They were out of 0-0-13 w/ a pre-m that starts with a P, they had another pre-m that starts with a D but was something like $21/50 lb bag, and it goes down at a rate of 4.5 lbs, so i'm going to go back friday hopefully and get some 0-0-13, they were very very helpful, the next thing i have to figure out is how to make the fert they sell me work w/ my lesco spreader, he told me they sell several diff brands, scotts and others i've heard of...i'll let ya'll konw how it goes

Someone posted a long time ago a chart of lesco settings and lbs/1000 it was very close. Might search lesco spreaders. Don't ever trust lesco setting on non lesco bag of fert. They are wrong.
