Is it better to mow the lawn first (this way it will mulch the leaves) and I wont have to blow as many leaves? or is it better to blow the leaves in a pile then mow the lawn? I feel it is just wasting time blowing the leaves since if I cut the grass the leaves will be mulches. also isnt good for the lawn, meaning nutrients in mulches leaves? I just have a basic homeowners toro mower not a nice commerical one. i do have a good blower. thanks

IMO, and I think others would agree, you should blow out the leaves first because it's a lot harder to blow our leaves that have been mulched. They wont catch as much wind from the blower(I think). If you have a leaf loader, then I guess it doesn't matter about loading them, but if you don't then I would blow them out first. The other thing that I have noticed when I clean up my own yard, is that the wind from the blower leaves the yard looking like a tornado hit it, so mowing it would make it look really nice. A lot of people though will tell you that you shouldn't mow it unless they're a weekly service customer or they want you for more than that one time. Which is true.

depends, how many leaves u have, better to blow them first then cut, so lawn will look better without shredded leaves everywhere. plus why mulch the leaves then blow the mulched leaves that'd be a pain.

I always blow the leaves away from the house, fence, beds first so that when I finish all are mulched and done with.

if it is your own house i would blow then mow to make it look nice and pick up any leaves you missed

Another thought is that if you are riding into deep leaves that you stand a much higher chance of damaging your homeowner grade mower on rocks, toys, etc that you never saw. Youd be surprised what you find under them sometimes. A bent deck or trashed spindle can really make for a bad day. I personally clean first. It leaves a cleaner result and is much safer.

Move the bulk of the leaves with the blowers, pick up sticks, garbage etc, then mow the lawn. As shovelraver said you might not see hidden objects that could damage your mower.

blow out beds get leaves into a workable area an debulk with mower, run over once with mower an it makes a huge difference when hauling away or loading them with loader, remember chopped up leaves dont catch wind like a whole leaf so after debulking them ya dont have to worry about the wind blowing back on clean areas , have fun an guess what its leaf season , We are aiming for 300 plus cleanups an sucking for a few small companies ! have fun George
