I want to see if anyone would be interested in organizing a get to gether before spring gets started....maybe 2nd week in march after were all geeked up after going to the novi expo...just a suggestion if anyone is interested?

Hello to all Im kinda new in the area just bought my first
house in Livonia in 2000 and took the plunge into my Lawn Care
Bizz full time in March 2001 This site has been A great place to
learn and get others opinions. Its helped me in getting everything
set up as A legit bussiness so I can start gearing my services
twards commercial propertys. This is a good idea to meet with
other in the same area I get a lot of people trying to barter me down on my prices with this guy only charged this or that would be nice to get a grasp on what this market will bear and maybe
help each other be more successfull at what we do. Has anyone
elce had A ploblem in Livonia with city Inspector hes telling me
my truck can not be parked in my driveway because it has my
name&# on the sides and that Having my plow on the truck or
in my drive in also A violation in A residential zone. This guy keep
coming back everyday with warnings.



Anyway It would be cool if I knew some people with the
same goals and dreams of making it as A successfull LCO.




This has been A ruff 1st yr for me expecially with no winter!


I plan on going to the novi expo show and of course the
steak dinner at weingarts where Ive spent tons of money!
So where is this get together taking place or are you just
seeing whos interested? Well if ya get it together count me in.

I mouthed off to one of the inspecters have been on my a$$ for the past year with the whole commercial vehical parking thing....i have since striped all my truck logos except for Five Star Lawn Care across the front windshield, and i never keep the plow in the driveway for more that a couple of days....they tell me that they can cite me for the salter, but i have pushed my luck and havent got one for it yet. They even tryed to cite me for haveing the 24' enclosed at the house when i had just had it stolen that following week and was looking for another yard...


So where would be the best place to meet and what day/time...im open to anything probably something out by 12 oaks would be best for everyone.

Oh yeah the salter too but mine is hitch mount so I just pulled
it off and put it in the back yard. as long as everything is out of
site he said its not a problem. Truck lettering is on the ext.cab
windows so I just pop them open and tuck trash bags over them.
Really startin to run out of space over here no room for growth as I would like to form a 2nd crew in 2003. And Ill be in
this house for at least 5yrs.
Eric,do you share a yard with another company or just an
outdoor storage space. Id love to find A few others in my possition to rent a building with Ive heard this is what others
have done.
This time of year Im not doing to much unless it snows.
so anytime youd like to meet up and shoot the sh!t is cool it
would be a lot better than sitting in front of this computer.
What area of Livonia are you in? Im over here off 5mi behind
Rent X. I think I may have seen your truck last summer at mobil
at 5&Middlebelt is your Ram blue?

lawncrafters, commercial mower is on Plymouth Rd. about 1/4 mile west of Merriman on the north side of street 32098 Plymouth Rd.

I used to have problems with Livonia city inspectors. Once they start, they will continue to hassle you. Luckly for me, I found a place to rent about 6 years ago near nine mile and drake rd. I still drive my trucks home, I have a flatbed with a plow and salt spreader sitting just behind my wood gate. My neighbors are pretty cool. They know what I do for a living, I respect them and they respect me. I think as long as you keep your home looking nice it might help the situation.

Yeah this guy got my # there persistant and they drive
buy randomly checking to make sure the violations have been
corrected. And I do keep A neat appearance around my place.
And I like my neighbors they think this inspector is being anal.
The inspector told me there was no complaint he just happened
to spot a couple other violation few doors down and spotted
my plow in the drive.

Allright guys, Ive got a Friend that works up at EastSide Marios in livonia ( its like 4 buildings away from commercial lawn mower for those who know where thats at). They have a party room that can hold up to 50 people i think....i think the minumum is 20. The meals are pretty cheap, kinda like an applebees, ruby tuesday type prices. How many people think this would be a good place?....i sugested erlier that mid march would be a good time and that seems like a good time for a majority of everyone here. if u have friends in the business ask them if they would want to come to. Once i start getting enough people interested i will set a date and time. but for right now lets agree on the place? OK, COOL.

Hey - I might be intersted too. I'm over on the Eastside - but do some business with Commerical Mower (as they're the Bunton distributor for the area). I'll probably go to the open house (2/28?).
They city inspector thing can be a problem over here too. I'm in Harper Woods - just make sure that everything looks real neat and most of it is in inside storage. Most of all - make sure the neigbors are happy - we do their snow for free lots of times when we're out and it's not done yet - so, in those big storms, we make a lot of friends = no one complains = no city inspectors up my butt.

OK people I called Eastside Marios tonight and made resrvations for April 4, 2002 at 5:00pm. to 8:00pm. I told them 20 people but wasnt really sure. I have to call back next Monday to confirm a head count. I know for sure me and my two employees will be there. this place is located in Livonia on Plymouth rd. between merriman and farmington rd. on the north side of plymouth rd. about 1blk. east of Commercial Lawnmower.
