If someone wants me to fertilize, then they have to use the type of fertilizer I reccommend AND buy it from me. When someone tells me they want me to put down their fertilizer the first thing I think is that these people are cheap and looking to save a buck. It usually results in clumped crap that won't spread correctly. Of course at that point it's "my fault". If it does go down without problems then whatever problem arrises in the future for that lawn is "because you didn't put it down correctly". To these type of people I say "you don't take your own food to a restaurant for them to cook, so don't ask me to put down your fertilizer".

The non-paying months are always the worst.

Check with your state regulations. Here in Kansas you don't need to be licensed to spread fertilizer, just pesticides.

I have an hourly rate so would just figure a time estimate on any job requested. I also have a minimum charge for extra's like this, even when I'm already on site and doing other paying work. If I make a seperate trip for this alone you should set a minimum charge. I don't know what you will use to spread it, or how long it takes to do a lot your size because my lots run 1.8-2.5k sq ft ., so based on my rate of $45hr for labor w/o power equipment
1. Allready on site= 20 min @45hr $15
2. Seperate trip = minimum charge $30
By the way, I would pass on this job myself also, way too much potential for trouble. Remember the guy who takes his own eggs to the resturant to be cooked.......
