Did 3 landscape jobs in one week (1 was my house, other old friend from high school down the street). The houses in my addition are pretty cookie cutter so there is not much room for extensive landscaping so these two look pretty similar. She liked how mine looked and told me do almost the same thing.

I will post pics of my mom's house after I'm finished. Tore out brick flowerbed today and picked up pallet of landscape rock to put in. She wanted the retaining wall brick from Lowe's/Home Depot which would have cost $400-600 depending on which one. I was able to talk her into going and looking at a nearby rock store. I sold her on the rectangular sugar loaf rock only costing us $250 and looking natural and a helluva lot better.

Let me know what you think...good or bad. I've been mowing lawns for 10 years and really have a passion for landscaping.

looks good, but those topiary are WAY too close to the house

It does look really sharp - but Yard Pro is right - they should be out another 8"-10" at least.

Like the ornamental rocks in the gardens. . . did a design similar to that once.

Agreed, I think the shrubs are too close to the house.

I'm not sure about your edging too. I've never used that type of plastic edging only because of concern of it popping up in the winter thaw. Doesn't seem like there is enough pins holding it in place.

Aside from the stated spacing issues, I would add add more height to the bed. The bed lines are excellent, but contour is also important from a vertical aspect.

Overall I think you are very creative and I liked the rocks used in between edging pieces.

Maybe next time you could try to avoid the edging. I think it takes away from an otherwise clean design. Perhaps use a natural edge with rocks to accent corners etc, like you did between the edging pieces.

agreed but these are cookie cutter homes and don't really feel it is worth spending a bunch of money on extensive landscaping. I'll post pics of my moms I'm working on soon.
