Very best control of clover is Confront, combo of triclopyr and clopyralid. Any other combo with these ingredients, like Momentum, or even one of them, will be effective on clover. 2,4-D will work, but count on two apps within a 2 week period to efrfectively eliminate it with 2,4-D alone.

Momentum is a Lesco trade name, available at any Lesco outlet, or by phone order. See lesco info at http://www.lesco.com/ .

Many other products out there. Suggest you contact regional or state lawn care association, or your state extension office, for direction to industry suppliers. Local consumer sources will usually not have the products used in the trade. Consumer lines are usually highly diluted, to control the flow of chemicals into the environment; also much more expensive for amount of active ingredient.

And if you are using these products in your work for hire, you need to be licensed by your state to offer this service for sale.

In NY Momentum is also a restricted use product(need license to purchase it). Good luck, it's a great product, I use it for most of our broadleaf treatments.

Fertilome makes an over the counter called Weed Out. Use sticker with it. The key with clover is its waxy and needs an adjuvant for better and onger uptake. BUT if you're doing it for hire you still need the license.

Like Groundskpr said, confront is a good product. Basically anything with Clopyralid as one of the active ingredients is going to do the job. happy spraying

Triclopyr & chlopyralid (the ingredients in Confront & Momentum do a much better job on clover than 2,4-D. But all the classic 3-way type herb's work too.
Perhaps more important though is eliminatin the cause. Clover infested touf is usually suffing from a lack of Nitrogen, compaction & a generally thin stand of turf. Follow good fertility practices, aerate to relieve compaction, overseed, & moniotr & manage for proper drainage.
The clover will be controlled using any of the mentioned herb's especially when spraying with a sticker at lower spray volumes. Spray when clover & the lawn have resumed active growth in the sprin g. Don't wait too long. Once the summer slow-down of growth comes along, your chance for success diminish rapidly. ie, if you mow, schedule it for your busiest most difficult week.

What type of turf are you treating? I see you are in S. Carolina, is it St. Augustine?

we used to use 3-way and confront mixed together. but now, we use momentum, and ae very app with the results.

since we are on the topic of weed control, didnt there used to be a chemical called endothal to treat some specific weeds? i think i have the name correct.
