How many tons do you deliver usually per truck load.
Most vendors I use deliver about 20 tons a load.
I deal with a local company here and Concrete supply over in Fayetteville and neither are near your price.

I can send you some work if you want?

thats a little over 18 tons a load. good think here is i have alot of places local to get rock from. as far as some work goes it all depends on where the location is because price will go up for travel time.

But forward visibilty was wild, so much more world out there!

This was a massive pond overflow system to install

2 48" over flow pipes with two 6' square overflow risers all tied together with a 32,000lbs head wall

Here is the pond

A race would be fun
hell if I know what it weighs. If I want to pull something I pull it. If it squats too much I get a bigger truck. Its a Ford. Havent gotten pulled for weight yet. But my afternoon was quite interesting pulling my skid steer back from the hunt club

new cop maybe 20 thinks he's all that stops me. I ask him what you pull me over for sir? he tells me my windows are too dark. I tell him well buddy NC tint laws state you must allow atleast 35% of light in. My windows are a 40% tint. Perfectly legal. I even have a freakin paper from the guy that put my tint on that says its that. Well the cop doesnt believe me. Prety much I told him F off in very kind words but meaning the same thing and go find someone who robbed a store or killed somebody. Dont bother me with my freakin tinted windows. He didnt give me a ticket but wants me to get my windows checked. I ask him "oh so you are going to buy me diesel to get there and pay for the test" guy said nope its on you. you have to be a law abiding citizen. And as he left he said that my machine is to big to be transported on the road. need to call a heavy haul company. Its a Cat 287B. I think it was some poser. Cant be real

The 7.3 PSD can get cranky about starting in the cold the 6.0s seem to be a little better starting.

Out here on the West Coast we haven't had any snow yet only a light dusting. Had some cold weather but not enough to worry about.

Your fine if all the glow plugs are working get one weak one and the 7.3 gets cranky. The old 7.3 IDIs were really bad.

Avoid plugging in it does help but a block heater baby gets used to it and you can have problems starting. Only use the heater say a hour couple hours before you need to start it if the weather is real cold.

your so off its not even funny. My 96 only has about half the plugs working and still starts fine just smokes a little more at start up as it takes longer to get the cylinders warmed up. And the IDI's were better at starting as they have a higher compression ratio then the newer diesels and don't have to build oil preasure like the strokes to fire the injectors

Can't agree with you there. I had an 88 and 92 IDI 7.3 that unless plugged in would not start when it was below 10 degrees. Both of my 02's have had no issues not being plugged in down to 30 below.

Finally got my volvo back into the state and close to home. dredging out the head section of a pond. Then if you remember correctly at the start of this thread where the daewoo is buried in a pond? well thats the pond right below this one.

Well I have to dig out some dirt, haul it down to that pond and grade the shoreline that I added all the mud to to level it out. Then fill my hole up with mud I take out of the pond

So we wiggled the lowboy in the best we could then just tracked it down the road.

Chris sorry to derail your thread while you're trying to get it back on track but...

You guys who can't start 7.3s in the cold need to check your glow plug relays and switch to a 5w40 synthetic oil. I quit plugging my truck in after a week this winter cause it just didn't seem to make a very big difference in the truck's starting ability. Best way to keep an eye on your GPR's function is a little LED. Just mount a little LED that lights off DC power somewhere you find convenient. Run one wire to the non-booted large post on your GPR and just ground the other. I chose to use one of the posts holding down my GPR as my ground. If you're standing in front of the truck to the passenger side near the fuel bowl you'll see two relays. The one closer to the front of the truck is for the air intake heater. The one closer to the cab is the glow plug relay. Unless you have a Cali truck or an Excursion in which case it is a glow plug control module and there is a difference. Not 100% sure what it is but it's different.

http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww31/73_Rocket/TheRig047.jpg

You can see my little red GPR LED above and to the left of my pyrometer.

So the mud is frozen in the morning and then thaws and becomes a sloppy mess? Sounds like you need to get a big water tank and high power power washer and blow the mud off

Chris, are they(DNR/Zoning) real picky with you when you dig ponds? Does it have to be a certain depth or can it vary?

This subdivison has several ponds that we maintain for them. Like this one, every 5 years it needs to be dredged of the sediment that has washed in. I'm game to do whatever I want, they know we will do a good job. I always try to get atleast 3' of water. This is so grass and crap will not start to grow. On this one I dug it down to about 5' as I needed that much to fill the hole in.

Only jobs that are state or city jobs have to be done to a specific requirement. although I've never done two jobs that were the same. I guess they make it up as they go as well:dizzy:

I planned to take out 1000 yards total. I found out today why the pond was never dug as deep and it was spec'd to be. The bottom is solid rock. So It looks like 200yard out of the forebay and I'll round up 4-500 out of the main pond and call it good.

Have to set some 30" rcp pipe tomorrow

Always nice to have a solid bottom! I know here all of the newer ponds must have concrete bottoms, little bit less stress full when you dont have to worry about burrying the machines!

Todays pics will explain

So in order to keep all 1000 yards of mud on site I've had to extend a 30" concrete drain pipe out so that the hillside can be filled.

That is lame. There are quite a few of us on my FD that work in town, so someone usually knows if someone was burning in the area. This time of year an officer will just go up in his truck and see whats up, not too many brush fires in the snow! One thing that makes me uncomfortable is when I'm driving whatever truck and I leave the station making a hellacious racket then get cancelled 100 yards down the road. You tend to get looked at funny when that happens LOL.

You understand for that to happen, it woulda had to have practically flashed over. Which is when everything reaches its ignition temperature at the sametime and everything catches fire at the exact sametime. So pretty much, the air is on fire..

Have you ever seen the exposure light off? It happens, the only way to prevent it is to put water on the exposure itself, a water curtain is ineffective in that situation as the radiant heat will pass right through it.

Um Junior, I hate to say this but gravel rat has you on this one. Once the radiant heat warms the air to around 500F you have yourself a second fire. I see this happen a lot when burning hay fields and brush fries. I've seen dry grass on the other side of a township road light with out and flames getting more than half way across the road.

All was good till about 5 minutes before quit time a Hydro hose busted right next to the fire, I was able to pull the machine about 30' away and cut it off. I'm sure 10 gallons sprayed out in just that 20 seconds.

That's no good chris, a guy i know lost his 963 when he blew a hydraulic line pushing up the fire. There was a leak in the belly pan and spraying hydraulic fluid let the fire make it to the drip hole. Fire ruined the pumps and motor, plus it got immobilized near the fire and it warped the loader arms from hydro oil spraying on the fire. Took 6 months for the track loader to get moved off the property, i assume it was insurance problems, but i never had the heart to ask.

Wow I had to go to page 4 to find this thread, I need to get my ass back to work:laugh:

doing some drainage work, today I just dug up the slab, installed the 6" pipe that needed to go under it and then replaced the concrete. I remember now why I don't like concrete.

Hard to tell in the pics but the pipe is below the bottom of the concrete and has 6" over it.

Finished up the drainage job today.

Installed a gravel leach pit with about 40 tons of rock in it. then I installed the pipe and put a overflow pipe incase the hole fills up it'll just leach out onto the surface and drain away.

Chris, that must not have all that much water going to it does it??

It has right much that will go into it, due to the underground spider web of utilities thats the biggest hole we could dig. When the hole fills up it will simply flow out of the riser pipe I put over the hole down to the street.
