Well I figured I'd might as well take my camera with me and take some pix.... so here...we...go! lol

(btw sorry for it being a little blury, my camera lense wasn't clean and I didn't realise it :hammerhead: )

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn4/JJLMC/JJ-Fall08001b.jpg

1st Pile of the day! Will @ Lakeview Landscapes picks up my leaves more me and is a GREAT guy to work with! Without his help I would be screwed.

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn4/JJLMC/JJ-Fall08002.jpg

and the backyard, which was a HUGE PITA because the customer wanted the entire property cleaned, and she has ton of plants and forsythia bushes + ivy and pacasandra wich holds the leaves like a magnet !!!.....she paid dearly for it though lmao!

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn4/JJLMC/JJ-Fall08003.jpg

same prop, other side of backyard.....oh and these two parts are connected by a 40" strip of grass (a little stream on one side and pool on the other....I'll get pix) and there is ONLY one exit :hammerhead:

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn4/JJLMC/JJ-Fall08004.jpg

company shirts on 24/7.....this is my best guy

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn4/JJLMC/JJ-Fall08006.jpg

look close there's 3 guys here...wind was against us 100% on this prop. so we were blowing the leaves into piles and tarping...

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn4/JJLMC/JJ-Fall08007.jpg

the AMAZING, MUST HAVE JRCO leaf plow.....my dealer screwed up and got the 48", not the 60" I wanted but oh well.....tiny little pile

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn4/JJLMC/JJ-Fall08008.jpg

the wright....guys were onto another job and I went back to mow.

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn4/JJLMC/JJ-Fall08010.jpg

one of my HUGE piles.....filled Wills 12' landscape dump 2 1/2 times I believe!

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn4/JJLMC/JJ-Fall08014b.jpg

oh and one more....this is how you advertise "GOT LEAVES?"!!!!

thats cool man! kinda figured you were close to my age from your thread....no the trucks not paid off and I might but only if I bought myself a strictly personal truck first....I'm looking to get a 12-14' dump first though....theres alot of stuff up in the air as far as trucks right now....so anything can happen lol...if yah wanna know pm its np.

No spraypaint way too professional haha Got leaves

haha yah I mean I don't want to jump on people but come-on, how in the heck do you feel good about yourself and people hire you? IMAGE is EVERYTHING, thats from the way you carry yourself, to the way you maintain a property, to the way you install mulch or a landscape, to the equipment you own, to the way you advertise.....jmo

You don't wanna do any lettering on that truck?

yah I LOVE those sides! I will keep the trailer, its nice for landscaping and smaller stuff or a small crew. As far as the truck, nah. Once I have a personal truck then yah I would, but also like I said above theres alot of "ifs" right now on trucks.

I really want to get rid of this truck and get a setup like this in all black.

Dodge 2500 Laramie diesel - personal
Chevy/GMC 5500 with 12' dump diesel - work

I don't like driving around in a smelly work truck 24/7 + friends don't like it, and the truck already has 19k on it; I have a few options right now as far as the truck situation goes....

maybe thats why everyone stays outta my truck lol. they just like to see it from a distance.

I like black. its sharp!

nnj18
11-18-2008, 08:26 PM
yah black is really sharp + its goes pretty good with green....only other trucks that good good with green are tan (ugly), white (ugly), silver (ok), charcoal grey (nice), but overall black looks WAY better, throw some tint on them, aluminum rims and some chrome and a nice logo and ur set. :)

your truck does look GREAT though!! I think its one of the nicest fords I've seen on here and plowsite...

My dad thought I was crazy because I bought 3 this year (had 2 EBZ8000s but started having some problems so I sold them for $750) , I told him just wait and see. After coming to one of my jobs he agreed that it was good planning and investment, I was like told you so lol

yah he has a leaf loader.....I know it was a good 2 truck loads, I think his equipment just hates me (and he'll agree lol)....but seriously I dunno.....its a pretty big pile though, I mean the front pile was 5' tall and the one in the back about 3'.....the picture doesnt do it justice I shouldve had one of the guys stand next to it

Well yea i got a truck loader, 27hp ODB tow behind on my freightliner 12'. The pile was pushed together with a leaf plow, thus the leaves were very compacted and about 2x what ya see in the pictures and there was also a good windrowed amount down the street that we sucked up first. Gotta say Jareds a great guy to work with, does some nice work! Thanks for the kind words btw.

Colin - yah I'm looking at getting a 8x18 black enclosed in the spring with all the extras.

Micah - yah my dealer likes me I think I spent a little over 6500 with him this year so....I try I guess to give them equal use?? Doesn't really bother me I bought them to work and make me $$$$, as long as they last me 3 seasons n I can sell them for a 100 or 2 I'm more then happy...2 are always on the trailer when we mow.

Do those leaf rakes touch the ground or not? And if you pushed a big pile, would there be any leaves that slip underneath the bottom? In English what I mean is are the plows to push the majority of the pile or can they get it all w/o leaving any behind?

They get the majority of the leaves, save a helluva lotta time on a job. Whats left can usually be quickly blown or simply mowed

Your doing some great work. You should be proud, just keep hitting the doors and doing work like that and your going places. And get a PUSH BLOWER you will wonder how you did without it. With those backpacks and the push blower you'll save so much time. It comes in handy when you have large open lawns with large piles on them. I need to get a lead plow like that, i have just been pushing with the mower but its slow. And for the trailer I was going to go with an 18' and ended up with a 20'. Very glad i got the 20', with the two mowers blowers and all that stuff in there it gets tight. Once again your doing good clean work, be proud of what you've got going. Best of luck and keep up with the pictures, love seeing your work.

lol yes they're small but we can bang out a house in like 30-40mins :D I'm getting around $250; 2 cleanups per fall. Some houses are more and my higher-end prop.s are 3-4 cleanups. thanx!!!

Why do you guys buy the trailer leaf loaders over a mounted one that you can have swing away? That way you could tow a trailerr over having 2 trucks

srl28
11-26-2008, 08:31 PM
Once you own one, I doubt you will go back. I have 3. The one tow behind pictured and 2 stationary ones, one is mounted under the bed of my chevy. The other is a tailgate type. The tow behind has larger intake and exhaust tubes which prevents clogging and allows more material to be moved. That whole trailer weighs just 800lbs so one guy can unhook it and move it around some and get it in some tight spots and back up to it and hook up again, I personally think its almost easier than the swingaways to unload. Also allows me to use the truck for other things when we dont need the vac. Each one has its place and with some of my larger accounts with long driveways and also big piles I think the towbehind is best. More power by far and works better. Also slices and dices the leaves quite nicely when running at full throttle allowing more material to be packed in the body.

That whole trailer weighs just 800lbs so one guy can unhook it and move it around some and get it in some tight spots and back up to it and hook up again, I personally think its almost easier than the swingaways to unload. eh I think that thing shreds like shyt...imo it should fit in alot more then it usually does.....I wish these vac guys would use their brains already and make something with carbide teeth and dual impellers so it double shreds and doesnt get destroyed if you suck up sticks or rocks....when I buy my own I may buy 2 and have a professional welder work something up that does a much better job....

Haha we ll funny story, ya know how the throttle control got busted of the control panel, well if u tweak it right and throw an extra spacer in there it holds at a much much higher rpm and shreds like u wouldnt believe!! wish i realized that sooner but now over the winter ill get a new control panel and install it so we can really use it to its fullest capabilities.

ahaha are you serious!! lmao! thats too funny.....I'd still look into getting some carbide teeth put on that. Maybe in the spring I'll have you come down and we can try it out :D

srl28
11-26-2008, 10:29 PM
yea we got a kick out of that, all it took was an extra 2 washers and it held the throttle enough to give ya about 1200 rpm more than we were workin with. Really shreds em now. Sucked a tarp full of leaves, tarp and leaves and all from about 5ft away today, right thru the vac and into the truck b4 we could blink lol. That was some noise lol!

That things gonna need a new impeller soon anyways we ll see, works fine without the teeth and theres gotta be a reason why they dont come like that so I'll stick with what I know for now i guess

nnj18
11-26-2008, 10:36 PM
Well its ur machine...I know on stump grinders they put on carbide teeth because of rocks and dirt so they last a lot longer...jmo but do whatever you want.

srl28
11-26-2008, 10:45 PM
Just worried that overtime the extra weight will wear out the shaft and bearings in there thats all. If they had replaceable carbide teath that would be awesome, sticks would be no problem, even rocks that get in there. Would grind it up real nice. Ill bring it up to a welder/fabricator buddy of mine and see what he says

ha no problem! at all, fit so many leaves in that truck today, did 4 huge cleanups and never dumped, we mowed em first thats why. Works well in tandem with the hustler and bac-vac

That's exactly what we do and the end result is double shredding.

Ugh some one else griping about how "short" my box is there. Works for us, complain all you want but that box and setup has made us an unbelieveable amount of money this past month or so. dont wanna go too much higher for a few reasons. Small tunnels around some accounts locally, pain to get to the top to put tarp on or work on box, the leaf vac only reaches so high so it can only fill so high to begin with, if that makes sense. Maybe next year but we ll see. Had every intention of makin it larger we just ran out of time.

Truck had a visor with clearance lights on it but last year we had a wind storm and a tree branch fell on it, cracking the fiberglass visor so we took it off and never got it fixed, looks fine without it, can see better too actually lol

This year it was just Rockaway and Mountain Lakes. Im looking to expand into Denville, Randolph and Boonton in '09. Not sure about the hide-aways, phuck them if it is illegal. I'll only be using it when working at night or when I'm on a busy road.

Ive heard numerous things about the legality of strobes and warning lights. Ive got them on ever truck I own. I feel that 99% of police officers will not bother to say anything about them. If you wanted to get technical and legal there is an amber lighting permit that the state of NJ has. Basically they say you can only have these lights, and need this permit, if you have a contract with the state for plowing, roadwork, etc.

All in all i wouldnt worry about it, and if a police officer is going to give you a hard time about that chances are that he or she will find plenty of other things as well. Your being safe and maintaining a proffesional image I personally dont think either is a bad thing

Hmm...musta ben past there for soccer or something...

btw...i looked into strobes a bit. In NJ technically they are illegal. Can't be in headlights, i think they actually hafta be below the headlights. Some cops will pull you over for anything tho.
I actually have the Whelen 90 Watt system in my truck. only 4 heads right now. Blues in the Headlights and clear in the Tails (like i said..illegal...no one cares...just dont tell the old people on my FA squad..they like to complain bout everything). It's a really nice set up actually. Has like 10 or 15 patterns. Very useful

And for whoever was asking it looks like the amber led is either the whelen slim miser or the mini phantom. Both very good lights. i have the miser in blue on my dash.

The mesh on the rear split landscape gate was terrible thin cheap stufff, some welds came undone on it and a few sections were so bad you could loose an ankle through them. Took the mesh off and also reinforced the two gates with some flat stock 10 inches apart and redid the mesh with thicker expanded metal, raised so it provides better traction. Looks great, just sucks these trailers are being sold with such cheap stuff on em

I like it especially the fact that its dirty not clean and waxed like a lot of people on here, gives me the feeling that you keep busy and actually make some money. Looks good to me Dodge Wright and eXmark, very commercial looking setup in my opinion.

Thanx! The mowers got washed right before I put them away for the winter and they're still not that clean. lol I buy my equipment to make me $$$$ not look pretty. I try to keep it clean and stay on maintenance but there's only so much you can do.

Going to probably be a nice, new, shiny exmark 60" lazer come spring! :)

Haha, ok. You have no idea what you're talking about. His combo is over 10,000#...do the math. It's obvious without knowing the GVWR of each unit.

Anyway, just giving Jaz some grief.... It's all about running a legit operation, isn't it??

SNAPPER MAN
12-25-2008, 12:09 PM
Ya it all about running a legit operation. I guess things are way different here in Texas. The only people sporting DOT numbers are semi's. Tons of people here have F250's with 16ft trailers with no DOT numbers because they arnt needed. The highway patrol has bigger problems to deal with. Merry Chrismtas by the way lmao.

ahaha thanx snapper man for the support, but do't mind him he's a waste of time.......DOT here is a joke and like you said has better things to worry about. Guys here pull D4 dozers with their F550s.....thats more of an issue.

PerfectEarth
12-25-2008, 12:23 PM
No, they ARE needed. Just because you see what you see, doesn't make it legal. But I hear ya...I'll assume a lot of guys in TX have farm tags (just like a lot of guys here...which you're still not supposed to run a business on). I hope you and your family have a great day- and best of luck in 2009! I don't want to sidetrack his thread anymore. :waving:

you got it! sometimes I have 4 guys working + myself so that 4th blower helps....or I may get a 13hp force blower. I'd like to get both :D lol but I have some other stuff I need before I go spending another $2k on stuff just used a few weeks per year...

My dad thought I was crazy because I bought 3 this year (had 2 EBZ8000s but started having some problems so I sold them for $750) , I told him just wait and see. After coming to one of my jobs he agreed that it was good planning and investment, I was like told you so lol

Hey Jared how DID you convince your parents on stuff like this when you were younger? Mine have pretty much realized that I'll do what I please anyways.

Hey Jared how DID you convince your parents on stuff like this when you were younger? Mine have pretty much realized that I'll do what I please anyways.

Um they've never come out and flat out said "NO", but that have questioned me and doubted some of my decisions. But now since I'm 18 and since I've never lost a dime on what I've bought (I buy/sell equipment on the side too), I guess I've proven that theres no need to question or argue with me about stuff. It is MY business and I do as I please basically. lol

That must've been nice. My parents always object to everything it seems like. But now I just pretty much buy what I want/need. The way I look at it is, it's my hard earned money and I should be able to spend it how I want it to be spent.

yeppp, thats basically the way it should be....next time they argue with you ask them who made the money. Now of course if you think you're going to go buy that Ford dump or 16' trailer I'D tell you, you're CRAYZ. :hammerhead:

Hey really nice stuff! What do you prefer, a stander or midmount Z I do residential/ commercial and a cemetary PITA but big $$$ I only want 1 mower so what would be the best choice.

nnj18
02-08-2009, 09:05 PM
If you don't have to bag and have a lot of hills get a stander. Otherwise get a mid-mount 'cause the little 4cu ft baggers are a PITA. haha Personaly if I were you I'd buy one of each but used and it won't be much more then a new stander. That way in case one breaks down you have a backup.

And thanx! :waving:
