My new scag has ripped through 2 batteries in 2 days. Its not charging and actually isnt even getting any juice from the motor. its dark and below freezing out so I dropped it off the trailer and loaded the spare on, but what am I looking for as far as fuses or anything that I could find before I drop it off at the dealer. It also wont start in the cold mornings. Need to crank it for like ten minutes with a jumper pack to get it going. Dont think they are related, but I never had a motor that wouldnt start. Worst motor Ive ever had. Any suggestions on what to look for. Thanks

You need a new rectifier/ regulator >spell check. Is this a briggs by any chance. And yes the problems are related, the bad battery is not giving enough amps for the ignition system. Also wouldn't hurt to put an amp meter on the regulator plug to see if the stator is working, which it probably is anyways.

ok, I see its a kawa. Did you check the fuses?

Update. It was the alternator fuse. It is sort of rediculous that nowhere in any of the paperwork they give you is there an electrical schems. I looked a little but it was warrantied so I just dropped it off and grabbed the backup.

The kicker is that it took them 2 days to figure it out. According to the regional tech the battery drained and it freaked out the computer and kicked the fuse.
