After searching the threads and google I'm having a difficult time figuring out how to shorten the lengths of premade LED lights. I am a Commercial Landscaper and this is for my own house. I'm not interested in doing this for extra income as I have enough stuff going on in the off season. Any info would be greatly appreciated. The light sets were purchased from Ace Hardware and have 3 wires. Thanks beforehand. Also where would I find the plugs, if they can be used, to take some bulbs out that are not needed. Agian Thanks

I'm pretty sure you cannot shorten led strands. the two types out there, rectified and non rectified, work on either a/c or d/c after the rectifier. The a/c sets are divided by each light recieving tiny voltage, maybe 2-3 volts, by each bulb being run in parallel, not serial like c-9 sets. and the dc, I cannot even get into that. I'm pretty sure that rectifyer at the end of the run converts it back into a/c voltage and you cannot remove that.

It can be done, but you will swiss cheese your sets and they wont last as long.

Just use black out caps or tape to cover up the extra bulbs.

Can the plug in end be cut off then re-installed were needed making sure the wires are put together? on the same line they came off. Also were do you get the plugs? I have 1 run on a porch that is 5' long and the shortest line I can find is 25'. Thanks again

If they are just mini lights, just buy a 9 foot commercial mini set and hide the other four feet.

The big box stores should have something that would work, I am not sure as I buy bulk. But I cant imagine, especially this time of year, that they would not have some sort of male/female zip plug in the electrical dept.
