I Just sold one of my trucks which was getting up there in age and need to replace it. This will pretty much be a backup truck and possibly plow in the future. I found this truck at a local dealer and seems to be in nice shape. What would be a reasonable offer? Any advice?

$7,500-8,000 would be a reasonable deal for both you and the dealer. Use the fact that you would have to put towing mirrors on it as a down side. Shoot low but don't insult them.

The truck went through their inspection and needs a few things.... they originally offerd the truck to me at $6800 As is... I declined. Today they called and offerd to fix everything the truck needs and sell it to me for $8500. I was thinking about offering $7500.00. I am not so crazy about the v8 engine though to be honest. I know its a bit underpowerd for towing.

people on here must have some good crack and pass it around. if they were selling it themselves the price would be over $10k and they would be tellign you why its worth so much. that truck had low miles for its age, looks spotless, and so on. assuming the truck is fixed to 100% not know what was wrong with it, i think $7500 would be a great price. just my oppion

The truck has the following problems as it sits.
Door ajar light on
Power mirror switch inoperable
Right side power door lock inop
Needs new front and rear rotors
Power steering line, fuel line and brake lines rotted
Bed supports rotted
Exhuast rattle
CD Error-shows 6 cds- wont eject or play
Although they are willing to fix all of the above and sell it to me for 8500.00 is makes me a little nervous as to why a truck that isnt all that old has all these problems. The truck does look like it was taken care of physically.

I'm not sure what these trucks are going for but it looked clean and had low miles. I say If the dealer fixes everything no more than 8K. But I'm more on supercuts side saying $7,500 would be a great price for you.

You know what I'm sorry to say but this is the 4th time I've looked at this thread and everytime I read what's wrong with it, it just tells me junk. Now please don't get mad at me guys for saying that when I already said what I though that it was worth. But my opinion has changed. I think you can do better than that.

DB, I think your right. The more I think about it, the more I am turned off by this truck. This truck must not have been taken care of too well for all these problems to be present.... Even if everything is fixed I feel as if its just a sign of whats to come. My vehicles are repaired as soon as I realize their is a problem.... I dont let 5 or 6 things go wrong and ignore all of them. I think I will keep my eyes open for a v-10 in better mechanical shape...possibly an ext cab/crew cab. I have always owned crew cabs and the thought of having 2 smelly sweaty employees sitting up against me while im trying in a reg cab dosnt really apeal to me all that much. The reg can would be better for plowing but I guess I will deal with that.

Yeah if were you I would look for something else like you said. It sounds like you do plowing so I would get the best of both worlds and get an extended cab. Room for the employees in the back yet your that much closer to a regular cab for your plowing.
