View Full Version : Plate Compactor Problems

Any help with this would be appreciated.

I bought a used Wacker plate compator, put a new engine and belt on it, and it ran great for about an hour. Then it sounded really horrible, I shut it off and noticed that the new belt was really messed up. I looked down and noticed that the exciter pulley was sheared into two pieces.

I bought a new pulley, rehooked up everything (with another new belt!). Once I increased the RPMs on the engine, it sounded like something was banging around on the machine. It was really loud. It only occured when the RPMs were up and the centrifugal clutch was engaged. I am not sure at this point what it could be?? The clutch housing was extremely hot, not sure if that is normal. But the clanging and banging it made was really loud?

Please help a desperate man!

My first step would be to take the belt off and run the engine, this way you can rule it out or indentify it as the problem

sounds like something is not properly aligned or not properly bolted, or both.

Just bring it in for service.
