How does this impact the trailer situation? Went to the registry today and couldn't get any solid answers. I have a few 3000 gvw trailers that are pulled by my f250 and one ton dump. I now need the enhanced inspections for my one ton dump as it has a 12000 gvw, however the trailer on its own does not, however if you read the language gets funny and says that a combination of trailer and truck over 10k, you need the trailer inspected??? any one know how this all really works?

I have a Bri-Mar 12,000 trailer and had it inspected in Enfield CT. No big deal,,, All lights have to work, electric brakes, good backup battery, chock blocks, and basic common sense, no wood on the floors peeling etc..

What was the inspection fee? How are small trailers with a single axle that don't have brakes looked at?

I was told today by the garage that I use for inspection, all trailers 3000lbs and larger have to be inspected by Jan 1,2009. All lights, brakes + drums, brakeaway units, + tires get inspected at a cost of $129.00............
