I'm looking at purchasing a 1999 F-350 dually with 8' NON DUMPING rack body. Here are the complete specs, just wondering what a good price on this truck would be?

1999 F-350 XL
7.3l Diesel
DRW - 50k miles - auto
Original Owner - 8' rack body
2x4 drive.

Rack body is a little rough, overall the trucks a little rough and isn't pretty.

I wish it was a F450 with 4x4....but I think its at a good price sooo.....

I would hold off, 1. Your low on GVW 2. Your in NJ and 2x4 isn't the best even if running a salter in the winter. 3. your right go with a min of a F450

What if I told you he's asking 5000, then what would you say? Might be a good truck for a maintenance crew, no??

Wow, thats pretty dang cheap. Even being a 2WD.

A F-350 has no payload. It sounds like this truck is a P/U truck with the box removed if it only has a 8 foot bed. Find a F-450 or F-550.

The F-350 2wds with the twin I beam suspension doesn't carry a load very well. Get any snow your stuck because it is 2wd and the dual wheels really float when using 16 inch rubber.

yah I think he'd take $4500 that's why I'm considering it.

Rat - I've read a lot of your threads and posts and most of it is BS, preaching the end-of-the-world or putting down equipment. So its hard for me to believe anything you say and you don't seem to be great businessman so if you could not reply to my threads that would be great. It seems like everything out of you is negative......

Just a little FYI this was NOT a pickup truck with the bed removed.

Now to get back ON TOPIC. Who here believes that this truck is worth well over $5000 and would make a good maintenance truck? And those that disagree??

What is your expected Payload?
Here a F350 is very common for Lawn Maint.
The truck is a good Buy for that low of miles.

expected payload, um a 18' trailer and a bed full of grass. If it was 4x4 I'd jump on it, the guy said he's had one other call on it so I'm not worried right now......also if it was a extra cab that would be a +++. lol

The Extended cab would be nice.
That truck is a steal at 5k.
Buy it, use it for a year and up grade.
I cannot ever see it's value being below 5k.

I'm gonna offer $4800 and see what he says.....like you said its value probably isn't gonna go below $5k in a yr or two and if I found something in the spring cheap I could probably sell it and make a quick buck.

that is a VERY cheap price with only 50k miles. i would call the dealer with a vin and see if they can give you any more info on repairs and what not. i would buy it and install a hoist on it so it can haul a few yards of dirt or mulch.

Sounds like a deal to me. A construction/ property management property here has a 99 F350 4x2 with a manual, powerstroke, and 165K for sale for $6500, and it's pretty well trashed. I'm looking at a 95 F350 5 speed 4x4, not sure on miles, with a flatbed, looks like it's been taken really good care of, for $5700. I'd say buy it, it'd be a great maintenance truck, esp with a hoist stuck under that bed.

Hey if you want to ignore my advice sobeit I have had my own trucking business for the the last 15 years. I have had 5 1 ton dually trucks over the years packed heavy loads on them.

Oh well go ahead and buy that swb F-350 it will be under braked for sure even thou it has rear disk brakes.

I can tell you have no clue about trucks so good luck on your decisions.

As for the price on the truck I would say 8 grand but it is a useless swb nobody wants them. You can't make money with a truck with a 8 foot deck.

You should have seen some of the loads of lumber I have hauled upto 10,000lbs on my F-450s. Timbers up to 24 feet long and logs that weigh over 3 ton.

Yep some kid that mows lawns knows more about trucks than I do what a laugh

for what he will probly use it for its a ideal truck (pulling a maintenace trailer). pulling a 18' trailer and loading 5 yards of grass clippings in it or a few yards of mulch isnt doing anything exteme with it. add a hoist and its a far better buy then a pick-up.

I saw that truck on craigs list as well. The only problem with that truck is it's 11000gvw. Even though its 2wd, the diesel makes it heavy so it won't haul more then 3000-3500 lbs legally. I see 350's really cheap all day long but I'd rather run my P.U. with the dump insert.
Since that trucks an auto, you better hope it wasn't beaten to bad. Those 4r100 tranny's aren't like the torqshifts. They don't hold up as well under load. JMO

Well we have to listen to your finacial advice and you still live with your parents.:nono:

I don't have 400,000 to buy a house where I live and I'am too strapped for cash to pay 1200 dollars a month for rent.

A F-350 doesn't have any legal payload.

Another thing against the truck it is a 99 it is the first year of the "Superduty" truck. It was the first year of the new automatic transmission that replaced the E4OD.

You buy a F-450 it has a 11,000lb rear axle, 19.5 wheels with larger brakes. The twin I beam suspension is horrible you put a load on it and the truck can't steer straight. The balljoints don't last long. If the truck was a 4x4 it might be worth it but a 2wd. You know how many years I fought with the rotten twin I beam suspension.

You think the twin traction beam suspension Ford used on the 4x4s the twin I beam was just as bad.

Yah know I was gonna just ignore you Rat but since you persist here it all is for you.

I've read your threads and I've seen your posts. You have NOT had a trucking business for 15yrs. In fact for a LARGE portion of your time here on this site you would ASK people about truck and talk about how you were going to buy one. But then you would argue with all those that tried to give you advice. You are a MORON! You are nothing and never will be, you're a TERRIBLE business owner and EXTREMELY negative.

Welcome to my IGNORE list. And FYI I do a lot more then mowing and run heavy equipment for a few of my buddies when they need it and THEY'VE BEEN IN BUSINESS well OVER 15yrs!!!!

TAKE A HIKE

......Its pretty sad all you have to show for your "15yrs of trucking business" is a used F450...how old are you? I hope for your sake you're like 20 and you're business started when you were 5 driving shotgun with your daddy.

Remeber GR I was a factory trained Ford Tech.
I was a Transmission tech there ,also a diesel tech and was Factory trained on the Power Stroke.

Actually the main changes to the transmission happend 2002.
The Multidisc lock up convertor was the major upgrade.
Buy that truck and order a Billet back multi disc convertor and it will last as well as the later 4R100.
I had a buddy just have is 99 trans rebuilt.Only had 320k miles.
He pulls a trailer everyday.

I'am 32 and I have been around more heavy equipment longer than you have been alive.

I'am not arguing with a 18 year old know it all. Go ahead and buy that F-350 its not going to really haul much.

Oh ya last thing where I have gone to do haul loads from would make your frigging head spin. You think you need 4wheel drive I have gone places with my F-350 2wds that a 4x4 would have troubles with. It is places where you need to have a machine pull a tandem axle dump couple miles back to a paved road.

There is places I have gone the truck would just slide with the rear wheels locked up.

Your only 18 you have lots to learn. I learned from old timer truck drivers. I learned from drivers that drive trucks that gross over 140,000lbs.

Go ahead and put me on your ignore list

Buy the truck. You do NOT need a 450 for pulling mowers. I have an 06 DRW F350 4x4 w/service body. I pull a CAT 236B on a tandem axle bumper pull on a regular basis. Although it's not exactly legal I put a 12,000 pound T300 with FECON mower on it as well. And it stopped just fine. You've got more truck there than you will ever need for doing landscaping. In all honesty a SRW F350 could probably handle what you are going to throw at it. And for 5,000$ you can't go wrong. Even if the trans blows up tomorrow and you don't want to fix it you can sell just the 7.3L diesel and get close to your total truck price for it.
