What has been the best lawn advise that you ever receiver from this site or any other place? Also what has been the best lesson that you have learned from experience?

The best advice that I have learned from the internet is that no one really cares what you have to say, and take everything with a grain of salt.
The best advice I have learned from LS is that in order to suceed you have to continue to throwout what you thought you knew, expand on what you learn, and that nothing is cast in concrete.
The best advice from experience is: If you say your going to do something - Follow through to your fullest extent, and If you arent able to do what you need to get done, then find someone who can help you through it!

Establish yourself as an extremely dependable LCO. Show up at a regular account at the exact time every week. Always exhibit a positive, courteous appearance. Look at the property the way you know your customer looks at it. NEVER leave without finishing. Weather should be the ONLY reason you're not there on that SET time. When it clears, get it done.
Look for reasons to do your job - instead of looking for reasons NOT to.
I say this because I know local co's who seem to do jobs when its convenient for them. "I could'nt get there because I had something else I really needed to do..." (the customer does not care whats going on in your life). "Truck broke, had to work my other job, mower boke etc. " -Its not the customers concern -they don't need to ever wonder where you are or hear your excuses.
This is the kind of company that never grows, and the owner never seems to understand why.

BRAVO!!!!! That is great advice.
Aw come on Kru, I care about your jibberish. Honest.
Best thing from this site is no matter how bad or difficult something may seem at the time, someone here has probably been through it already & can hopefully help out with it.
Best thing from experience is I will never have enough experience to say I have done or know it all. Sorta like what that Kutnkru guy was saying he learned from LS, but I can't say for sure because I didn't care to read his post. ;)

Most knowledge i have gained is from attending seminars threw winter months, there is nothing like face to face hands on learning.
id have to go w what kutnkru said. the one single piece of advice that changed my service the most was changing from lt to ztr.

and remember, we don't work in a street market overseas. debating and bargaining over price is not an option.

LMAO - me neither!!! I LOVE this job.
In regards to the topic at hand, heres an old thread relating to the LS Learning Center:

Best advice was to go with commercial equipment and to know what your costs are for your personal situation. Bottom line is that we do this for dollars and you better know where they come from and go to in order to make this more than a hobby.

calls arent so bad-voice mail/caller id.
most customers aren't home, and we also ran a crew last yr, so i dont see all houses weekly.
only prob with customers being home is the elderly-they just love to talk all day. feel bad, they're just lonely.
as for sanity my invisible friend says its overated.

Its not the advice I received that made me successful, it was the advice I didnt.
This site has aided my familiarity with many brands of equipment, the "to and fro" about brands has made decisions easiier when dollars were expended.

Best advice. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. It's what one of my college business teachers told me. "A satisfied customer will tell 3 people, while an UNsatisfied customer will tell 6." Take it to heart. ;)

Best advice to me was someone telling me to look into this site. I have very little computer knowledge but; being on this site has helped me learn a lot about computers and it's nice to be able to interact with people that are in this business and can understand the setbacks and rewards of running your own business in the green industry. Most " normal " workforce people I talk to don't understand why I do alot of the things i do because of all the responsibility involved with running a business.

The best advice ever given to me was from my grandfather. He was a mason for 40 years. He told me learn as much as you can about your business. He said after 40 years in the business he's still learning. I have only been landscaping for 14 years now and the thing I hate to see time and time again is the guys out there with the big ego's. Give me a moddest guy that's the man I respect. This web site brings alot to the table, I think everyone can gain from it.:D
