Alright guys stuff keeps breaking for me haha. The 450 is leaking motor oil bad!! if you let it sit not running for an hour or to you will have a small puddle under it. ugh!! we just rebuilt the tranny like a month ago! now this! btw its a 7.3 diesel at 170000 its letting up. what do ya think it is rear main?

yeh most likely rear main. Check the top of the engine as well.

It sounds like a high pressure oil line has let go. It could be the turbo pedistal they can blow the O rings.

Get it to a mechanic before you have something blow and your broke down on the side of the road.

If the oil is running down the back of the engine its either turbo or HP Pump.

its coming out the back of the engine I believe we are parking it tommorow and our full time diesel mechanic will be working on it after he finishes putting the engine back into our 2003 f150 that blew a engine at 160k I HATE FORDS! all our chevrolets and gmc's work for 200k+ but the fords are killing us! whats a hp pump?

We just had something like that, it was a oil galley plug. It is up on the back of the motor and it was leaking bad, took it to International and it was under $300 to have it fixed. They said it is a common thing, I had never heard about it.

High Pressure oil pump it takes the engine oil and pressurizes it to operate the injectiors. The 7.3 injectors are Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injectors they use the engine oil to work.

The 7.3 in the Superduty body is pretty tight the turbo sits way under the cowl.

To get at the high pressure pump the top of the engine needs to be stripped.

Could be a bad high pressure oil pump , had one on a 7.3 oil just gushed out while it was running

Ok well its not gushing out yet it is prob using 1 quart a day our crew says at least. and ya it is very tight! there is no room to work so Idk what we will do pull the motor im guessin its gonna have to wait we are finishing up the 150 tommorow then we have a dodge ram with a blown 318 and then the 7.3 gos in and then my old 77 dodge gets a new flywheel and some 35's. lots and lots to do at the shop. Thanks for the tip on the oil galley plug and the vp pump I will make sure those are checked! thanks to everyone who has helped me on this one I appreacite the advice and your experience you have had over the years. Im learnin a lot to be 15 eh?

There are 2 quick disconnect fittings on the fuel rails up top where the high pressure oil line comes from the pump. They will leak into the valley and come out in a hole on top of the transmission.
There are 2 plugs in the back of the head that leak also.
A quart a day will probably not be the rear main oil seal.
There are o rings under the turbo that leak as well but not near as common.
Take a light and look into the valley underneath the fuel filter and see if it is wet.
You can reach behind the heads and feel for the plugs leaking as well.
