I'm on the hunt for another truck and came across this one and would like some thoughts. You guys were great on the F-350 diesel. Anyway here are the details

2004 GMC 2500HD
Extra Cab - Auto - 4X4
55K miles - 6' Bed - 8' Plow
1 Owner - All Power & Options Except Leather

Guy is asking $12,900 I know he'll take $12k maybe less.

we have a 04 2500 4x4 with the crew cab and it bent a pushrod at 110000 we were prettty dissapointed with gmc as they wouldnt warranty it but we proved it was a problem with the injectors that made it bend. so they warrantied it I would go and take it to a dealer or mechanic to see about the injectors! Other then that problem the truck runs great! rides smooth and has gobs of power!

Sounds like a good price to me, also the mileage. I bought a pickup this summer, 04 1500 with 41K, Some trucks I looked at already had that mileage on them and they were not even 2 years old?

Can't tell, does it have the duramax in in?

If it had the duramax in it it would probably be more than that I would think.

not its just the 6.0L gasser....I think $11k would be a deal on this truck, I mean its pretty clean, the guy didn't beat the h3ll out of it. He's had it forsale for about 5 months now. I think he'd do $11k cash no question.

I have a '04 2500HD reg. cab, long bed w/ a 6.0, I've owned it 2 years. Gas mileage sucks (about 8 on a good day around town pulling mowers), but the truck will pull a house down. I've plowed with it the last two years (8.5' Western ultramount), last spring the tranny puked. Reverse went right out of it, had to have it rebuilt. While you're checking the injectors, have the tranny cooling lines and the brake lines checked. I've had to replace the cooler lines when the tranny puked, they rust bad. Just last week I had to have the brake lines replaced, due to rotting, and they are a b!tch b/c of the way they are run behind the gas tank and along the frame, if replacing one you might as well replace them all.

Is it an LS or LT? 4WD is great sometimes too.

I have an 04 2500 xtracab 4x4 with the 6.0 gas engine. I have had only one issue, the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. This is a common problem, so you may want to see if he has had it done. Chev/GMC did a warranty extension on it, but I think you may be past it. My truck still drives like new, it is quiet, powerful and reliable. Mileage is consistent, 10 mpg towing, 12 mpg empty, about 13 mpg empty hwy.

Price wise do you guys think its a decent deal @ $12000? Or do you think its worth more around $11k or less??

Thanx for the info and keep it coming.

Like the other guy said, these things are PIGS on gas. I average maybe 8 city pulling a trailer. I'll have an acurate average this winter without a trailer. Its a great truck though.

oh sorry I thought it was a dmax no injector problems on 6.0

We pull a Bobcat T190 with a 2002 2500hd crewcab shortbed with the 6.0 and it does it just not that great of a job, when pulling a big load watch the tranny will get hotter than normal, but past that it has been an awesome truck... I could get you a 2001 chevy 3500 LS 4x4 longbed quadcab for 12,900 with 60,000 miles I think..

I think that's a great deal honestly.

If you found that truck without the plow it would be about that same price, then when you went to put the plow on it you would be paying 5 to 6 grand.

Only drawbacks I see to buying a truck that already has a plow like that is that it *may* have seen some frame stress from hitting things with the plow, and it will likely have a lot more salt damage *RUST* than the normal truck with the same miles and age.

the one downside is the plow is a curtis which I hear are shyt.....

If he goes for $11k cash it will be in the driveway....I know he's been trying to sell it for a while....all it will tow is a maintenance trailer (either 6x12 or a 8x16) either way it will handle my towing needs np I think.

Supposedly he only plowed his driveway and a dealership lot (where its sitting now)......but you all know EVERYONE just plows their driveway only. lmao

I think that if you could get it for $11,500 or lower you would be in good shape as long as it checks out. I honestly would not pay anymore for $11,500. Dont forget, some people need money now so cash will go a long way now. Also whether you get this one or another one buy it now while most trucks values are low because of the economy. I was looking at a 2006 GMC sierra last week, extended cab 6.6 foot bed with 50K miles. 2 sets or rims, 2 hoods, and a system in it. The guy was asking 14,000 for it. So I liked it I talked to a buddy of mine and he told me that they would give him 9K on a trade in and put it on the lot for 12K. This blew my mind!!

Sorry for the long story.

Nothing is wrong with the Dodge.

1- I'm not going to plow with my Dodge its just to loooong.
2- I'm hoping to start a maintenance crew in spring.
3- If he'll take $11k its a steal (IMO), there are guiys selling their '97s beat-to-h3ll for $7k here.

The instrument cluster went out on my '05 too. Apparently, it happened while the guy that sold it to me was driving it to meet me to sign the deal:hammerhead:. Yeah right. Needless to say, he ended up paying for it. I think it was around 500 bucks. Maybe not a deal breaker, but definitely something to keep in mind.

I have the same truck but its LS and had 28,000mi when I got it. And I payed closer to $20,000 for it. So I think you would be stealing from the guy at what he is wanting for it.

Offer him 11K if he takes it great if not just find another one....The most important thing when shopping for a vehicle(or anything for that matter) is to not fall in love with it (I don't thi nk you have) there are so many others out there.

Good luck

yah, I'm not falling in love with any truck. lol I'll see what he says. I think $11k's a good deal and I'll just finance it for like 24-36 months.

My 04' Chevy 6.0 gas has been my best truck so far. It is also the first used truck I ever bought. I tow a lot with it, everything from a small open trailer up to a 30' fifth wheel camper. This truck gets used for everything, drive to my 40 hour/week job, lawn equipment and snowplowing too. It was an early lease turn in with 17000 miles at 1.5 years old. I get an overall average of 10.5 mpg. and it now has 55000 miles and no major issues so far.

I saw a truck like this that is a 2003 4x4 with the 6.0. Any thoughts anyone before I end up wasting money? The dealer wants 13K. With no plow.

I have an '04 Duramax CC 6.5 bed 4x4 that had the same problem with the cluster. I had received a speeding ticket because of it but wasn't able to have it thrown out because I did not realize it until after I paid for the ticket. The only reson I realized the speedo was out was at one point I looked down as I was getting on 285 and the thing read 120mph!

Luckily I knew the guys at the dealership and I only paid $100 to fix even though I had 87xxx miles on it.
