saw $1.31 yesterday! Good to be headed in the right direction. Too bad diesel isn't where it should be. I guess they figure the people w/ Diesel's won't stop driving their vehicles, since they are primarily work related vehicles.

Who gives a crap about other peoples jobs? Gas IS the reason why this economy is so screwed up. We did it to ourselves (not that we could do anything about it) I would rather pay 1.00 a gallon then be paying 4+ a gallon.

And the only reason why the new station was selling for .99 cents is because the old station was prob sitting there for quite some time and they want to filter out all the crap thats been sitting in those tanks. What better way then to drop it to .99 cents and have people lined up to clean the tanks for free. I did it once and will never do it again. I now only stick to the name brand gas.

.

Once oil hits $30 a barrel a lot of things change. At that price Americans cannot make money on our oil , so everything we use will be imported. Canadians cannot make $ on Alabaster ( sp )
Right now its about $1.80 a gallon around here , and if it stayed right there for 5 yrs that would be perfect.

Keep in mind , somewhere there is someone saying who gives a crap about your job.

Gas was kinda out of control but thats pretty harsh to say who gives a crap about other peoples job. If you dont worry about the job market then how are customers going to pay you for your services if they have no job.

The housing market is why the economy is so bad. People living above their means for too long on credit cards and it caught up with them is hurting our economy. Taxes are hurting our economy. A government that meddles in everyones business is hurting our economy. Gas is not the culprit.

More people were buying gas at 3 dollars a gallon than are buying it now.

Well to answer a few of your questions. It was a little harsh saying.. who gives a crap about their jobs. Gas is the main reason why we are so screwed up. Gas rose the price of food, maintenance, parts, packaging, oil, labor everything. I'm sure there are many people who dont give a crap about the lawn guy. We did this whole gas issue to ourselves. I for one am very happy that gas is cheap now. I can't wait for .99 a gallon. I used to pay over 100 bucks to fill up my truck. When gas hits .99 cents it will cost me 30 bucks to fill up. The other 70 will be spent at the bagel store, clothes, things i used to do before it was 4 bucks a gallon. I'll drive more places and spend more money. I stopped alot of things because of the gas prices. Now that its cheap, i'm slowly starting to help out other small businesses by buying their products of services.

Way I see things just as soon as folks fall back into their old energy-consumption habits they'll jack us again.
And I don't care how low it goes.

That's it, they blame it on everything from the housing industry to hurricanes to whatever else suits the fancy,
but like yourself I find the blame falls squarely on this fuel price nonsense.

Demand is up, demand is down...
Supply this, supply that...

Something wrong with the petrol industry if you ask me.

Gas was kinda out of control but thats pretty harsh to say who gives a crap about other peoples job.

Then again these youngsters wereearning $80,000 a year fresh out of high school, buying brand new GAS guzzlers with CASH and
living it up, maybe they should have saved some of that money instead.

Live and learn, times don't stay but so good for so long.

Enjoy these lower crude oil price's history shows these price fluctuations mean nothing but trouble. This is not right, were in the middle of winter heating season, the price of crude should be higher. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the extra money, but the analogy if "your not spending money your not making any" need apply to our current economy.

I don't think you can go off of history this time. We have a world financial crisis (except for China) causing a huge reduction in consumption. If China were to follow the downward spiral of the world markets, we could see $10/bbl oil again.

When oil took off to $140+, it was based on speculation, not consumption or reserves. The speedy price retreat has been fueled by the law of supply and demand and recession. At $40.81, we have not seen the bottom yet regardless of what China does.

OPEC is loosing control of the world oil market regardless of a 40% market share. Their production cuts and threats of further cuts have produced a 0% yield in stabilizing prices. All factors considered, we are dealing with an unprecedented set of circumstances. One thing is for sure, oil will not go up any time soon.

Texas currently has one of the best state economies and new job rates because of oil. Folks (from places like Michigan that have over 9% unemployment) will gravitate to where the jobs are. We are seeing an influx of out-of-state job seekers unwittingly entering a soon to be declining economy due to plunging oil prices.

Most of us in here have hear say and speculation as to what is causing this and what is causing that. I hate government regulation just as much as the next guy and I CAN'T wait for President Obama. If my numbers are correct and I hope that they are. If we have an average of 4% adjusted inflation. When I graduated high school back in 1997 we were paying $1.15 in gas. That means in 2008 we should have been somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.90 in gas not $4.15 a gallon. In what planet should I see two or three price increases in a day. In the KC area starting in September we had price decreases of 10 cents about every 10 to 14 days to where we are now at $1.35 to many people wanted to get too greedy too fast IMO. I don't mind things going up just not like oil did.

I would be stoked if it got down below $1, but right now we are between $1.50 and $1.60. Either way it's a hell of a lot nicer than $4.00 a gallon.

Have you noticed that ever since president elect Obama was briefed, "got a hold of that classified information" that only the president has access to.

Since then Obama's has been "humbled" IMO, and come to the middle on many of his liberal policies. He will not raise the capital gain tax's, like he said. He has "changed" his "toon" now on many issues's that got him elected.

Were all speculating on what is causing this economic recession, and my 2 cents says President Busch DOES not deserve all the blame, as Obama cannot fix the economy on his first day in office, or his first term.

I have always lived within my means, and 5 years ago we started getting our personal & business financial's in exact order. That can be the difference between staying in business, and folding.

If you look at history the business's that survive & grow during a recession no matter the size, have always done well. Some of the most powerful companies were started during recessions.

It will be the Middle Class that brings the economy out of the recession.

My shop is 26 miles north of Boston Mass and the best price for gas I can get is $1.59 per gallon. I can fill my chevy 2600 hd from empty and it costs under $40.00.That to to me kicks ass.

Gas prices at $1.83 super (thats all I use). $1.63 for low grade.

So when is the price of food and beer going down since the price of fuel is down?

 While I agree, I cannot lower my price just because fuel cost is lower now.

We need some stability in the economy; were still NOT at rock bottom. Turn on one of the 24HR news channels, pick one watch for 30 minutes you will . Their are stories of large & small companies closing their doors left & right. Folks show up for work, only to find the doors locked. No jobs or health insurance, no notice.

The banks cannot give loans to companies to make payroll it's instanity

Crude oil price is lower because the global economy is in a recession.
