I replaced the ignition coil on an hs45 hedgetrimmer and got her running again but not well. Is the coil supposed to have a gap or something? Also ,Does anyone know the correct spark plug gap for this model?

Take a business card and fit it between the coil and the flywheel. Loosen the coil and let the magnet draw the coil inwards to until the card is pinched and then tighten the coil unit. Rotate the flywheel slowly to remove the card. I'd set the plug at 25thou.

Good luck, Phil:usflag:

There are 2 different coils for those. The one you replaced exactly like the old?

Business card is the best trick.

Plug gap is probably 0.020, like every other piece of 2-stroke Stihl equipment. Is the plug in OK shape? The electrodes might be kinda beat.

Run Bosch plugs!
