kawasaki 21 hp starter keeps running

ventrac wouldn't start so took the starter off to clean connections and when I put it back together and hooked up the battery cables the starter would just keep running. When it wouldn't start it just clicked when you turned the key, it didn't turn over at all, that's why i thought it might be a connection at the starter.

Sounds like you need a new solenoid, Burnt contacts inside can cause your symptoms.
