Hello guys my name is Dwight im from Columbia, TN and im new to the site. This has probally been discussed but if so i missed it while browsing. My questions is would it be worth it to start a Lawncare business this upcoming year. If i would have did it this past year im sure i could have gotten quite a few yards but now with the bad economy will people be able to pay someone to do their lawncare. I dont wanna put money into expensive equipment if its gonna fail. Thanks for the replies in advance :)

Go for it !!...the bad economy might be a good opportunity to pickup some used comm. equip for cheap. Businesses and high end residentials will still require someone to mow their lawns....The only thing I worry about is the people who get laid off from their jobs and pull their old Craftsman out of the shed and call themselves a lawn care business and lowball the prices....that's my only worry!!

hey like big c said, the guys who live in those big homes and nice neighbor hoods probably arent hurting so bad because there the CEO and doctors of this world and theyl always pay to have there yard mowed. i mean even with this bad econony i see people driving the new 09 cars left and right where i live. so theres still the people out there that can afford it in my opinion, rough times or not.
You won't know unless you try...so give it your best shot...or no shot at all.
Treat folks well with courtesy and diligent work in a timely manner...that is what they want and expect.

Totally comes down to your AREA and you ETHIC. If your area where you plan to start your business has a need that will support your prices and services then yes, it would be a excellent year to start. The only question left, is if you have effort and drive that it takes. If you honestly enjoy the work, like I do, then the second question will answer itself! =) Best of luck and I hope you have a wonderful start for your business....report back to us often too....Lots of wisdom on this site. It's your bible..=)
