View Full Version : Gravely Electrical Problem
Hey Guys,
I have Gravely Pro 1548, does not start with the wire connected to the coils if I disconnect it it starts on the first pull. I checked the ignition switch seems to be working fine.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
You need to figure out where that wire that is connected to the coil is being grounded. Get out a Multi-Meter and get busy.

Sounds more like a bad safety switch. Should only be a few on that mower. If it was me I'd bypass them all, but only if I'm the only one using it.
I am the only one using it, how do you bypass the switches?
Thanks,

unplug it then take a wire and plug it into both sides of the plug so it completes the loop.I woul'dnt undo the handles because if it gets away from you it aint stopping till it does some damage

One needs the serial# to download a manual from http://www.gravely.com/
That would allow one to see if they have a schematic for your machine.
"Generally speaking", the seat switch completes a ground circuit to the kill wire. Thus "jumpering" it would insure the engine wouldn't start.
Often the seat switch plug has a grounding tab, so simply unplugging it doesn't work either.
With out a schematic, one can't be sure though.

If one has the model number, it has the electrical wiring shown in the parts breakdown under "Parts Radar". Also shown are the continuity circuits so you can check the switches.
Change the Ariens to Gravely in the selection box and the type in the model number and it will take you to the selection of parts drawings.
The mower should be a GR1548FX , GR1548FL, or GR1548FXP depending on the deck and drive.

Which have different schematics.
More info needed!
