We've just hired a fellow to start helping us with the odds and ins that we need an extra hand for. No set amount of hours he will be working, just when we need him. He was laid off from his company until mid January and has nothing else to do.
So far I've been really impressed with him, I tell him to be at my house a 7am and he'll be there at 6:30 and be waiting for me to get out. The other day I told him to be at the job site about 8am and start putting out straw. I got there about 8:30. He told me he got there before the sun came up.:clapping: He put out almost 60 bails by hand with no problems. hard to find people like him.

You're lucky. Don't let him go too easy.

My guy is a good operator, but he's never early. Always on time, but never early.

He does not run any equipment, but I'll let him try some of it. I wish he would not get here so early, I was laying in be the other morning and saw a flash of headlight through the blinds... to be sure that's not him... yeah almost a hour early. Then I feel bad cause I can't stand when people have to wait on me so we've been getting to work early the last few days!

Jeesh, fine! I wanna be the head mexican backhoe operator though, I get to lean on the shovel and tell everybody else on mexican backhoes what do..

Come on, I can run Deere controls, so I can run the mini's! and if the Tak has H controls I can run those to!

Do you think dad would notice the pick up gone?

Need not apply if you run deere controls. we have all our machines set the "right" way. I put the minis on deere pattern just to screw with the others:laugh:

It's a real pain to go from running cat style all my life to get on a deere pattern, in fact I really can't run that style without getting very pissed off.

would you like a flat or round or shovel... I need someone to wear the rust off them:laugh:

He follows me to the jobsite. It's right where the water tower used to be... can't be that hard to find.

I often wonder about that.It is funny because when you first start you know neither so which ever machine is your first kinda ruins you for everything else right off the bat.
I learned on Deere.
I switch my mini back and forth trying to get used to both but it is tough for me.

I can't run the mongoloid controls aka Deere. I don't know if junior has enough training for a mexican backhoe you better put him on the mexican dump truck (wheel barrow)

Myself I'am always early for work I don't like being late. For some people being late for everything doesn't bother them.

dirtman have you ever looked into getting a straw blower or hydroseeder? could be a little more $$ profit on a job.

Well if you think alot about your help then show it to him! I have done the same as this guy to only get walked all over by the boss. It did nt take me long to figure it out and i left! Little things go along way to keep a employee happy! Stuff like buying lunch and paying 40 hrs a week when the employee only worked 38, ect!

yes.

I rather pay him the money instead of renting a blower, plus there was really no access to get a tractor and blower back there... so it was done by hand. we did 25 bales this morning...
