Good thing your not spreading the brine with your truck its horrible crap it should be outlawed. The environuts said they don't want rock salt on the roads.
That bucket looks like something you would use for sawdust. I don't think a bobcat skid steer has enough power to handle a bucket that large

I heard about the incident on Blackcomb yesterday with the gondola, that sucks terribly. Anyone know any more than what the news is saying? All I've heard is that a tower somehow fell apart and for some damn reason dropped a cabin right off the cable, that should NEVER happen considering how they're designed to latch onto the cable.

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/12/17/gondola-investigation.html
Just found this, they're saying ice damage is the culprit. Somehow water managed to penetrate the weld connecting the two tower pieces together. Once the water freezes and expands, you guessed it, it shears the weld. More info says that the cabins didn't actually come off the cable, more or less it was a large distance to the next tower so they just landed on the ground, at least from what I can tell by the story.
Huge bummer, but luckily nobody was killed or even seriously injured, sounds like all injuries were minor thankfully.

Desperation takes on many forms when the snow starts flying, I was asked to clean our church's parking lot after they paid someone with a Bobcat T140 to do it, his tiny 60" bucket was no match against my mega 80" bucket, but I declined, I will not finish some one's work they were paid for in advance.

Lucky us. We're looking at another 4-6" tomorrow morning.
The General Mess of Crap mason dump is finally done. I had to bring it in to the shop. They decided to replace the fuel pump and it seems to be working decently now.
When I brought it in I had to tow it in with my 6.0 Ford. As we were pushing it into the service bay the mechanic asked me if it was carbeurated or injected. I told him it had a carb. He looks at the other mechanic who was helping to push it and says "This is gonna be f*ckin easy!"
So the snow is supposed to start at 4am and I can't go pick up the truck til 7 when the shop opens up.

The main reason behind hauling the snow away is because it melts then freezes at night creating black ice everywhere.

A bucket like he uses (over 8 feet wide) will give you better traction when it's loaded, just lift it up a bit and roll the bucket forward and you get more traction on the front, a pusher blade is useless, lift it up and you loose snow.

There is some truth to that, I have a massive FFC snow pusher. I when pushing through deep snow its easy to loose traction. I am chained up on all 4s and traction is still an issue. Its easy to burn the chains up if your not carefull. I think I may sell the snow pusher and get an oversized bucket. The snow pusher is fast in the right conditions and you can move an real amount of snow. They do have their drawbacks.

Ron, I've have used a snow bucket and have been using a pusher for the last 5 years. The pusher will move at least twice the amount of snow as a snow bucket. I have a T200 and yes, sometimes traction can be an issue. However, I think with a T320 he could use a 12' pusher. The arctic sectional plow is very productive, leaves a clean scrape, and minimizes damage. They are great. I like plows better than pushers but it depends on how you are plowing. We used this tractor with a 8611 Blizzard and it was sweet, very productive, could throw down some salt or sand, didn't use alot of fuel and operators liked it. The only complaint I had with it was you couldn't stack with it, had to follow with the loader but it made us some bank while we used it. We got it on a winter rental very reasonable and if I could have found just a little bit of brushhoging I would have bought it.

You look at a plow on a plow truck its designed to roll the snow if it had a straight blade you could have all the power in the world your going to stop and spin wheels.
With our wet and heavy snow on the coast it doesn't plow very well. Get the momentum going and push like h*ll.

Too big a BITE :)!!!!!!!!!! Just because you have a 4 to 24 ft. pusher. You don't have to try to push the whole width everytime, just because it is that wide.
Heavy wet snow judge the distance your going then test what width that takes the least amount of time and troubles.
If wet and heavy split the width of the blade to half after getting the first pass in.
Your not getting full uses i realize, but the time spent fighting by spinning and digging ruts isn't speeding things up either.
Dry fluff snow give it he!! Just need to make adjustment.Up hill pushing(wrong),push down hill evey time you get a chance if there is a place to pile in that direction.
Take advantage of the width when possible, cut back when the conditons are unfavorable.Good luck

Everybody here is sick of this white crap especially when you can't drive on it because its frozen solid and you need ice skates.
Not good for the contractors because its stopping any of the work that is happening. Most construction sites are not even accessable even a 4x4 with chains would have troubles.
The public side roads (paved) are 4x4 access only or a front wheeldrive car. With my F-450 grossing 12,500lbs its not enough weight to give the rear tires enough traction.
The plow trucks won't put any salt on the road because the drivers are worried if they loose the weight in the truck they will get stuck.

The big problem is that you can't let the snow pile too high off the run ways, those jet engines create some major suction, and they don't want the wing tips getting near anything.

Here in B.C. we don't see winters this bad every year. For a airport to invest in millions of dollars worth of equipment to be used what 2-3 weeks a year.
This year is becoming like it was back in 96 so its not something we get every year.
The snow in Alberta is drier than it is here or even in Richmond where the airport is.
