My dad has been a package car driver for UPS for about 23 years. Well 3 years ago he decided to make the move into Feeder trucks(UPS tractor trailers). Well, his normal route is to take a set of doubes(2 pups) up to Omaha and back. Well we had a pretty good snow in a short amount of time. About 4" fell, and he always goes up there with another UPS feeder truck. So my dad and the other UPS truck were coming back home today and were going about 20mph w/ heavy snow conditions. A FedEx package car went by them, and there was a MODOT(Missouri Department of Transportation) snow plow caravan clearing off the highway in front of them, MODOT trucks are a bright yellow with amber strobes all over their trucks. The FedEx package car went straight into the back of the middle plow truck killing the driver on impact. Very sad, but very avoidable. This could have been avoided, had he layed off the gas, got the big picture and been aware of the current conditions. RIP FedEx driver. Here is a picture of a MODOT Truck.

That is sad but it is something I wish people would learn from more that SPEED kills. Everyone needs to slow down and take their time a little more each day and think about how things they do can and will affect their life and many lives around them.

People are just idiots when it comes to snow. I plow in my skid with a 10' Actic pusher(big and yellow). I run in huge parking lots with amber strobe and the people in cars have no respect for us guys plowing snow. They think that I'm going to get out of there way?? :hammerhead: I just sit there until they move. Stupid F'in people, get the F out of the way.
Let the plow guys do there job and YIELD to them.

I feel bad for the guy that died, but UPS, FEDEX and DHL drivers drive WAYYY to fast. They never stop at stop signs, I have almost been killed 5 times working around my trailer at job sites by these crazy people. Just because they have some corporate boss that only cares about time doesn't mean they should break the law. They act like race car drivers.

I agree! This a hurryup world more every day.
I see the same driving issues here also.I blame the higher ups, because they keep trying to push for faster delivery time, those forcing the driver to try and keep on a set scheudle.
Leaving out the conditons of the weather, traffic and etc.Just doesn't make for a safe conditons.I have talked to my local UPS driver several times about it.He finally gave up and took early retirement.
Winter is here in the heartland so drive safe.:usflag:

I know that they are very hard on their drivers about driver safety and awareness.

But they are harder on the time crunch...the safety thing is so they can't get sued as easy. We used to call it United Puppy Slaughter as the drivers would kill many dogs where I grew up.

Sad to hear
UPS drivers get paid even if they finish early, UPS has there routes calculated and if they finish sooner they still get paid for the calculated time, that's why you see them hustle and drive fast. most people don't realize the money these drivers make, its a very good job.

Its a damn good job. My dad makes close, if not over six figures, and he drives to Omaha and back everyday.
