I was wondering if anyone in the North trims shrubs in the winter. Shrubs like holly, arborvatea (sp), hemlock, gold thread cypress, barberry and juniper.

I'm working solo this year and these shrubs I usually trim only once per season. My customers already signed contracts and I figure I could get a jump on my trimming? What do you think?

Will it hurt any of these mentioned shrubs if trimmed in the winter?

i have trimmed bushes in the winter. but, more than likely, they will need trimming again by the 4th of july. so if you nly plan on trimming once, you may be wasting your time and energy.

i usually trim twice a year. first time usually in june and then around september/october area. if they need trimming, go for it, but it wont last all season thats for sure.
