We're supposed to get 6-12 inches of snow tomorrow. My plow truck is under the weather
(no pun intended)

I'm bringing the CAT home to clear the driveway (long driveway) and it will have to be stored outside. Does anyone know where (if it all) I can plug it in to keep it nice and toasty overnight?

Does your 236B not start good when it gets cold :dizzy:It also has glow Plugs on the top left console in the row 2 switches beside the key the top one will activate the glow plugs :usflag: in the rear door on the engine you should find the 110V block heater cord if it has one !!

I never have a problem to start this 248B which has same motor as you do :cool2: even if it goes down -20 C or 0 F

I found my block heater on my 247, the plug for the cable was on the right side just below the exhaust manifold, closer to the belt end of the engine, there's a threaded cap on it you turn off and plug the cable in and thread the collar on.
1 hour of it being plugged in and it fires up in -5C here, with only 3 seconds on the plugs.

If the plug in port is hard to find, just look for something sticking out of the block with 2 prongs inside.

It starts just fine, but if I have the block heater plugged in then I get warm air from the heater faster.

Yea. My driveway's too long to shovel, but not big enough that the heater has time to get workin good before I finish.

Maybe it's just because CAT is too productive!

I would not have a problem with that :clapping:

Ya I would put money on just a shitty heater. I have never heard of a CAT skid steer being to productive, but pushing snow sounds like some thing they could actually handle.:waving:

Hey I thought the Amish were not supposed to lie, and how did you get a computer in the first place?

Just went outside to look for it and couldn't find it. Is there any way to know from the s/n if it has a block heater? The machine was from Ohio and has all the options so I'd be shocked if it had no block heater. I opened the back of the machine up all the way and couldn't find anything that looked like a 110v plug. I opened the back door and flipped the radiator up, but couldn't find anything.

If you can find it ,you might be able to call your Cat dealer ,give then the s/n and they can look how it was euipped new.

At least i have had them do that with my dozers at different times.Plus they have also gave me the history of parts and repairs done on it also.Good luck the snows on the way.

Ice here first :cry:changing over to snow before morning.:usflag:

Yea. Only thing is I have to be running the machine tomorrow morning early before the dealership opens. I'll probably just go out and start her up before breakfast and by the time I'm done she should be toasty warm.

You should see some of the custom steel wheels the Amish or Mennonite's have. Nothin' like seeing a brand new tractor or skid rollin' on steel.

It's a gray area, right?

All this time wasted looking for the plug. You could have had it done by now with a shovel.. OH wait, I guess the shovel is more productive than a little cat...

Right beside the Large hose going up to the rad you can see the Block heat it is just to the right of that Rad hose there

Does it take an over productive CAT and HOME HARDWARE equipment to match competition?

Dozer wouldn't start the other morning, colder then crap.Imagine that.:)

Checked the batter connections. There it was.Battery cable between the two batterys had a melt down, not sure why:confused:

Didn't have tools since helpers had the my other pickup.

Post was melteds down to undersize on positive side. 24V burns(melt when they short out}.Cause of more fires on equipment then you would think.

Cable melted to negative post also. Will had another cable(short one between the two 12V battery at shop). In the process of getting the old melted one off broke post off one battery(negative side),so had short battery post there and melted undersize postive battery post;).

The fix was:dancing:luckly the short post was still tall enough to get good grip with the battery cable ,postive end, used a copper plumber fitting that had threads in one end, screwed it on the postive battery post, the fitting had a taller and bigger end that the positive cable fit right on and that was the quick fix for the day:weightlifter:.

I think the problem was that the short battery cable had been replaced with the lead ends and not copper and might not have been completely tight when installed and arced, those melt down.Sorry no time for pictures that day.

By the way,i agree,a fix is a fix right!!!!!!!*trucewhiteflag*:usflag:

Is that black cord there the one that I want to unscrew the plastic off of and get out to plug in?

D'OH!!! I feel stupid now. The wire was all coiled up neatly and tielocked together right there and I didn't see it. Crisis averted. Now to go plug her in as the snow has just started to fall and it's fallin quick. 7-14" by tonight they say.
