Yeah its my truck i have another one that someone else was driving at the time so i was in this truck my spare. I was making passes in one of my parking lots that i maintain and i put the truck in reverse and the thing sparked fire. I quickly hoped out of the truck and called 911. The other driver tried plowing the truck in to stop the fire but it was burning to fast. By the tiime the fire department came it was to latethe truck was shot.

Cruise Let me ask u a question how do u use cruise control when ur plowing?
Did the truck have cruise? It was something with the control module for it under the hood getting a power surge or something and catching. It can happen with the cruise on or off, it has even happened over night when the truck sits. I had a recall done on mine for that deal. I think it was like a faulty wiring harness they replace or something

I think that the trucks exhaust leak was blowing hot air against the fuel line and it caught and i didnt turn the truck off when i jumped out it was not my first reaction. Since it was still running the fuel was all over the place

Glad to see your ok. If that was me driving the engine, we would've saved your truck.

Yup I got a 93 and mine needs the recall done on it as well. I can't believe you didn't shut it off, but I have never been in the same situation. I also carry a fire ext, but a running gasoline fire you weren't gonna get close enough to use it:cry:

in the state of NJ not carrying insurance is one of the highest(priced) moving violation offenses and carries and automatic license suspension

I'm sorry but I do think its pretty stupid to be driving a vehicle with a problem that serious. I would never drive my vehicle with ANYthing wrong with it. Not only can you be killed from the carbon monoxide it produces. Just my 02

Rule #1, ALWAYS TURN THE KEY OFF IF SOMETHING HAPPENS. :D As for the exhaust leak, you should really take a look at it, on the next truck. :) Glad your OK
As for the insurance, do all of you guys bitching carry full coverage commercial insurance on the piece of $hit truck you drive? It's one thing to carry it on a newer vehicle but a old worn out truck? Lets be real here.

uh yeh??? What the crap is that?! If you're driving a truck on the road you NEED to have insurance. You're an idiot if you dont have insurance on all your business equipment.

Yep, here in Kansas you will get a ticket if you get pulled over and don't have CURRENT insurance. Let alone no insurance. Its probably a nationwide law that any vehicle on any public roadway shall have insurance......

I am sure this guy has liablity insurance on the truck. I assume he ment to say that he does not have collison insurance or in other words insurance that covers the truck if he crashes it into a tree or it if it burns down.

I run 250/500/250 commercial insurance on my vehicles . . .that's 250k medical coverage for one person in the other vehicle, 500k medical coverage total for the other vehicle (no matter how many people) and 250k for any damaged cause to a property by the vehicle

I'ld agree. Car insurance is so ridiculous in NJ that most people only carry liability unless your in a new car. Liability only covers damage you do to others and medical expenses. It doesn't help with damages to your own car at all. Highest car insurance in the country hurts :(

So I guess being a firefighter and mowing part time gives you the right to be an arrogant dick to those that work in this industry full time. Thats handy...
Sucks about the truck, my Dad had an 88 Ranger burn up in a wheat field one day. I ASSUME the battery shorted out or something and caught the truck on fire, which lit the field on fire. We do know it was NOT from the stubble touching the exhaust/cat/muffler, as it was cut real low.

87 Ford F-350 dually. It is an integral part of my biz with an 8 foot mason dump, and 9 foot plow. Looks slightly like crap, but runs like a champ.
Nothing less than Full Coverage. Too bad only one company will cover it fully.

That is good. His the current economy, trucks are a dime a dozen. You should be able to find a good deal. I hear the big 3 are have trouble:hammerhead:. Maybe you can get a better deal on a new one. Good to hear your safe, again.
