Well, I thought I'd share a few pictures of what I spent the day doing. As it is in most places, temps were in the single digits (F) and the wind was 25mph+. We have to have this job done by Tuesday and just found out about it last Wednesday. Today was the first day we were able to get around the retention ponds because the ground was frozen. The previous days it was all mud. The torch never left my hands because of all the frozen valves we had to deal with.
About 10 acres all together. I love my job:hammerhead:

Hydroseeding... you always go home green!
Have you ever used the matting for stablizing slopes? I've always had good luck with it holding the dirt in place where it washes bad. Although you would need a tractor trailer load to do your job!

Man o' man!!!!!! Good thing your young ! This old man would have been froze to the trigger. At least it would still been running when they carried me away:).
We have ice and snow here,so you wouldn't be doing that here, unless they will let you cover ice and snow.Hope you "Get er Done" good luck:usflag:

They specified hydro mulch. And we took delivery of a semi load of it for this job. This job would be a piece of cake if it was above freezing and dry dirt. We are not "hydroseeding" this job. Mulch only, no seed or fert.

Oh, we can plant grass year round down here so I did not think about that. I guess not much would grow in those temps.

That doesn't look fun. Hydroseeding isn't fun sometimes when it is not cold, don't even want to imagine.

Why aren't you using the hose? I hate when hydroseeding "cowboys" spray everything in site green, it looks lie this crap. You also wasted a ton in the pond.

You have no clue. You're going to do 10 acres when it's 4 degrees outside(with 25+ mph winds) with a hose? :hammerhead: We may be "cowboys" but I'm not stupid.

In case anyone is wondering, we are using the skid to pull the trailer around because of the Mars like terrain (frozen dirt clods everywhere that could rip the bottom of a truck to shreds). The trailer in the pics used to have ramps that stowed under it....not anymore:laugh:

Just wondering???? there did look like some erosion already in the first picture over by the building small ripple, then in the second picture between the trailer and the CTL on the far back pretty deep wash.
So will they be fixed next spring some how or what you see is what they get?
As far as how you was doing it ,from me it was more like how did you stand to being out there doing it:rolleyes:I know when your younger your a little tuffer( or broke!!!!!! as been my case at times),guess that why most of my machine anymore has cabs.
The ones that don't my younger men get to run.Well hopefully.Sometimes you just got to what you got to do.Did you get it done or not?:usflag:

This was all done as temporary fix due to the fact that it can't be seeded till April. All the washes will be fixed prior to seeding. The civil engineer originally told the GC that this did not have to be done but when the GC asked for it in writing the CE changed their mind. And then it had to be done by today. We had 6 days notice and there were only 2.5 days when the ground was frozen enough to get around the site. We started on Sunday morning and finished up today at about 2pm. The best part of it all is that the GC said they will be calling us back for more mulching because they are going to tare up some of stuff we already mulched. What a waste, but I'm not complaining.
As far as being young and broke....I qualify for both:laugh: As far as being tougher...When it's really cold outside I'm a pansy. The frozen, mars like terrain really took it out of me.
