I plan on buying the 1996 F250 with the snow plow, and buying another truck as a back up 2nd vehicle.

There were also some F250SD's on the market (2003 to 2006) with the 5.4L gas engines.

I perfer the Ext. Cab b/c of my 30 mo. old boy. What are your thaughts guys?

Any of em would do good. The 01 powerstroke is the one over priced. that one should be about 10k.

I might go to that dealership for the 2001 and offer 10K with 3500.00 down if they still have it in Feb. 2009. The worst they can say is no. Maybe if I show up in uniform shirt they may let me have it for 10K. Hopefully they think of me as a constant customer for more future business from me.

The 04 F-350 would be my choice if it has a clean Oasis report and its not a problem child. The 04 has the heavier gvw and the good driveline ie torqshift and Dana 60 front and 10.5 Ford in the rear.

The OBS Fords are okay get used to the room inside a "Superduty" body the OBS Fords feel like a coffin cab.

The 04 Ford would be nice but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with that engine. How many miles are on that truck?

98,192 Miles

Made a mistake. Scatch off the F350. It's a crew cab. I don't want a crew cab. Too hard for plowing.

Have you tried this lil method:

F-250's under $9g within 500 miles of 44485 (http://www.cars.com/go/search/search_results.jsp?ct=584&tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&cid=&dlid=&dgid=&amid=&cname=&mdnm=F250&mknm=Ford&rd=500&ddrd=&zc=44485&makeid=14&modelid=181&pageNumber=&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE%20descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-|E-|M-_14_|B-9000|D-_181_|N-N|R-500|I-1,7|P-PRICE%20descending|Q-descending|Z-44485&aff=national)

For example here's one I think might be worth a look:
71,161 miles 99 Ford F250 Super Duty v10 (http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-|E-|M-_14_|B-9000|D-_181_|N-N|R-500|I-1%2c7|P-PRICE+descending|Q-descending|Z-44485&aff=national&paId=286376056&recnum=12&leadExists=true)

Well, I'm buying KC2006s'F250 4x4 truck, now off for a F350SD 4x4.
how about the 6.0, 7.3L Desiel, or the V10 gasser?

If you can find a 7.3 with lower miles jump on it! Otherwise if its a 6.0 it needs to be 06 or 07. V10's are fantastic but obviously dont get the best fuel economy. 05+ for V10's.

Finding used trucks with 7.3s and in good shape are hard to find. If you want a V-10 I guess you would have to find a 05 or newer model. When did the spark plug shooters become revamped to the 3 valve model ?

I'm not too keen on the V10. What a gasser! I might just stay arrround GM 454 or Ford's simular eng. I forgot the size. these new numbers confuse me. I am used to seeing 350, 351, 454, and 460.
