Hello everyone great Forum !

I have had my 610 for many years and love it, I use it strickly for home use as I have a large piece of property and a 350 foot driveway. About a year ago, everytime that I would use the machine after about 15/20 min. it would just shut off, not sputter, no warning, just shut off. Wait 5 or 6 min. and ALWAYS restarts again. Not after 3 min, you have to wait the full 5/6 min. Then this will continue ALL DAY LONG, but the more you use it (continueous) the span for useing it will decrease and it will only run maybe 10 min. or so. I thought it was a fuel problem, so I put on a new electric fuel pump (yesterday) and thought that I had solved the problem. But after the initial 20 min. it shut off again!! So now I'm back to an electrical problem.... I have changed out the entire wireing harness, new Altenator, Coil, Wires and plugs. Also at the little ignition box (left side) they also replaced the resister.
Is there anything else electrical that would make the machine shut off??
Thanks so much....Rick

what kind of work are you doing with it when it is shutting off?

Did you change out the points and condenser, when you got the new plugs, and wiring.

Sounded like maybe coil, but you have changed that already.

Are you sure the gas is clean,no water or trash in the tank that might be getting sucked up into the lines.Good luck:usflag:

Thanks..... You dont have to be doing anything for it to shut off. Just driving up the driveway will do it.

Gas is Clean, lines are new and clean......

The next time it dies take a voltmeter and see if you have power to the coil. (with the switch "on", of course) I can't remember right off hand where the coil is located...I'm thinking it's just to the left of the distributor, so it should be easy to test. This shouldn't be too hard to fix once we determine a few things.

Does this model have a pick up line coming up out of the tank, or does the line come out of the bottom or the tank. My diesel was doing that and I found that the pick up hose had holes in it.

Superduty: Thanks.... I will do this today, Will a 12v test lite work on the coil??

Triadpm: Thanks.... It does have a pick up tube, but I have bypassed this directly into the tank with a new fuel line to see if that was the problem.

Ok Update !!! Bobcat 610 shutting off problem
I have put in a new 12Volt fuel pump, (with a clear fuel filter so I can see the gas flow),
it works great but the motor still shuts off after 20 minutes or so, same problem...wait 5 min restart use 15/20 shuts off. I did what Superduty said to do and tested the positive side of the coil as soon as it shut off. Had power to the coil. Soooooo if I have power to the coil, (New Coil) and gas to the carb....whats left to check out. Thanks again for all you help guys.... Rick
