So I went over to the east side of the mountain for the weekend. I try to get over there every year because I'm a snow freak and get dissapointed when we get our little 1 inch dusty here on the west side. However, I was in for a treat as we have had A LOT of snow dump on us. The west side never gets as much snow as we've had this year. We've had 3 winter weather advisory's go out (one issued about 10 minutes ago) in the past couple weeks. Very unusual for us. At any rate, I still went over to the east side. This railroad town is called Leavenworth. It's a neat town and I love it. Scag is staying in this town while he works on the mountain. I missed him unfortunately due to difference in schedule.

Here's a few pics. While driving through the mountains, it was very windy. The night before, they had 90mph gust in some spots, but most of the places only got 70mph gusts (on top of the snow flying). My favorite are of the 580C. Beautiful machine. I was jealous. I wanted to get on it and my girlfriend just rolled her eyes.

...more pictures. The picture of the "water" is actually a river. That area in the river slows down quite a bit and is just one big deep mini lake. It had frozen over. When I drove back today, that little piece of unfrozen water was frozen.

The last pic was looking at the very beginning of Leavenworth. The road just spits you out right there in the town. The city looks small, but if you look at it from a map perspective, there's quite a bit of roads cutting through the forest. LOVE IT!

Sorry for the blurry night shots. The camera is old and the night function sucks.

There was a bobcat with a blower clearing our parking lot in the morning...throwing crap at the windows! :nono: Then an ugly Cat backhoe drove through to insult me...and then I drove into town and saw this beauty working.

Later that night, I saw a bobcat mtl driving down the road with a freakin' huge bucket (like the one on one of these threads not too long ago) and I saw a brand new new holland 35 hp tractor working, and a snow covered cabbed 580C extendahoe.

...and some more. This is the first time I've seen this so I'm just making an educated guess...but the engine area all wrapped up is to help keep it warmer and start easier? It was 14 for the high.

KSSS, are these storms hitting you after us? Because holy crap, you should be making some $$. What method are you using to clear snow until your blower arrives?

Although I did hear about the bus incident on Thomas and I-5... whew; glad everyone was all right.

Haha...yeah this state is beautiful. I love the how different everything is.

Those bus drivers were idiots! They are notorious for their horrible driving habits on the freeways...blowing by 10 plus over the speed limit. They'd have a very bad day if I stopped them.

I hate the snow I wish it would warm up so it will go away. Maybe by saturday it will start raining and wash all the white crap away.

The biggest problem the side roads are not plowed properly and even a 4x4s are having a tough time to get around. With 3000lbs of weight over the drive tires on my truck spin like there is nothing on the truck.

I had 8 days holidays and pretty much stuck at home because the roads are impassable. Should have bought a 4x4 F-450 but its not worth the extra expenses just for 2 weeks worth of winter we usually get here in B.C. .

Should have bought chains but I didn't think I was going to need them this year the farmers almanac said wet and rainy winter

Global warming my azz this is turning into the same snow fall we seen in 96.

I have spent the last two days and nights in the 465. I had to quite early tonight (0100 hours)so I can drive to Billings in the morning. My blower ships on Monday. Sounds like there is a lot more snow coming. It may be white but looks mighty green ($$) to me.

You know there's something terribly topsy-turvy when winter driving conditions in the greater Seattle-Metro area resemble those in our own little slice of Bavaria, Leavenworth.

Enough with the snow already!

Ron, looks like you have some nice weather up there. I'm sad it's melting down here. But I kinda get tired of only driving 30 mph in my work cars...my truck it's no big deal, but vics and charges...nope.

Ron what model flatbed truck is that? You have any other pics?

Minimax, I can't imagine how busy you are. You guys got HAMMERED up there! You have just the tractor going up there? A lot of customers or is this a fluke temporary business for ya? I know some guys don't do this but it's hard to pass up the opportunity especially w/ all the snow we have.

Where is the mods to remove that persons post. We don't need a spammer here.

As for the snow for us in B.C. and the PWN we are not used to snow we are used to ducky weather splashing in the mud puddles.

This snow is very frustrating for people. West Coast snow really isn't light and fluffy its wet and heavy. It turns to ice if you spin your tires on it. It packs so hard it turns into a real miserable thing to drive on.

Think of it as your tires are coated with banana peals it provides very little traction.

With snow that is light and sticky tires grip it better because the snow is drier.

The only thing that helps is tire chains especially on a 2wd. A 4x4 even has troubles when the snow gets deep or its packed and turned to ice. Look at all these people with SUVs upside down in the ditch. We have 4wheel drive we can drive like a maniac. People with SUVs are about the worst.

Lets have a white christmas and on boxing day all the snow can melt away and life can go back to normal

That's my trusty Ford F450, that 's the deck I pulled off the 1991 F450 my Dad gave to me, and that deck was built in 1987, all steel decking with my custom designed bulkhead and trailer hitch with safety chain eyes so strong, they work as tow hooks.

I'm starting to re-think my future truck purchase, maybe a bigger truck with a deck just long enough with some hinged aluminum ramps, plowing snow is really fun with my Kitty Cat!

I wish I could, even a sea can would be nice, but then that's another thing people are going to bug me about, one step closer to having it in my bedroom so I can snuggle with it all night long.

Ron, what kinda bucket is that, what did it come off of? its funny looking..

That was a bucket my Dad had made up for the old 930 Mustang in 1990, 74" total width and it has some serious roll back, so you can carry bark mulch and manure with out spilling it, but the dumping angle SUCKS! I used it for pouring concrete and even digging and leveling soil with the T190, but it was never made with strong steel, so it actually pops off the quick attach from time to time on the Cat when I back drag, it's really bent and warped but it still does the job.

Negative. I am wanting to get a good flatbed truck and trailer for now...so I can haul my "mini" stuff that I rent and then I'd eventually like to pick up a mini excavator and build from there. I'm in no hurry but I would slowly like to pick up things here and there. I haven't focused on anything related to construction this year so 2009 is when I'd like to focus on it.

Stuvecorp,

coopers, what's funny is that I've seen all that iron rolling around. That Bobcat with a blower is a joke, the guy running it hasn't got it figured out. That 580C is an oldie but goodie. The Cat was a 420D I belive, I saw it rolling through a couple mornings ago as we came into Leavenworth in our van.

Leavenworth has been described to me by a buddy who lives there as Nazi Disneyland. I've yet to find a better description. Fake Bavaria works pretty well, too. The best part about the town is Oktoberfest, 3 weekends of tons of beer and quite attractive females running around in traditional Bavarian attire than can be somewhat revealing. The rest of the year, the place kinda sucks, but around the Christmas holidays is the best time of year to visit by far.

Lol, yeah I was pretty annoyed with the bobcat dude blowing chunks of freakin' snow at my window! I drooled over that 580C. I'll get one eventually. :) That CAT backhoe is usually parked at the burger joint across from the Icicle Inn. Heidle Burger or whatever it's called.

I'd be so bored of Leavenworth if I had to live there! I saw pictures floating around of people all decked out for October fest. Unfortunately I only saw the guys in their short ass shorts. :(
