I snapped this pic a year or two ago driving thru town one day...thought you may get a kick out of it! At least there are some safety cones on the trailer. One big bump and that plywood is long gone...and probably the Walker too...

Not sure who it is...but hope it's no one on here! :hammerhead:

More than likely he is not going any where to far away. Not safe though.

that doesnt matter. I wouldnt load a trailer like that to move six feet, thats something you just dont do! He would get some major tickets if that mower came off, no matter if it hurt someone or not...

Yes, true. But if it came off he would still get some heavy fines...

Yes, true. But if it came off he would still get some heavy fines...oh most definetly. I remember a couple of years ago when a local contractor was in his F-450 flatbed towing a gooseneck and he didnt have the trailer fully "secured" and it came unlatched and slid right into a parked state trooper. Poor sob didnt even know what hit him. Those state troopers are tough dudes to do that stuff on the highway,

Yeah troopers are serious. You think there bad, get a pissed off transport policeman. He will find something wrong with your set up!

There was a guy in Ohio, years ago, I wasnt even alive, Dad told me this, that used to haul a 20ton trackhoe on his lowboy and never put a chain on it. Well he just happen to turn the the corner a little sharp at the main intersection in town and boom over she went right off the trailer in the dead center of the intersection. He got some huge fines! I think he even got his CDL suspended for a while...

I guess that nobody realized he was doing a service to society. He is keeping us on our toes.:hammerhead::hammerhead::hammerhead: Seriously, this is what makes us look like jerks with no education. Hopefully no one reading this drives like this.

Wow, unbelievable the way some people do things. I can secure all of my equipment in my 4ft. x 2.5ft. lawn cart 10 times better than the way he has done it. It shows he really doesn't care about his business and equipment.

You have to give the guy credit...he is obviously prepared and planning ahead! The orange cones are at the ready to mark the lane obstruction when the plywood and Walker mower go flying off the trailer!

Kind of ironic though, this whole thread... Pro-Turf, aren't you the guy with the massive fleet of trucks and trailers and no DOT compliance?? :nono:

*wink*

I have a great pic of one of our GOVERNMENT crew's trucks here in Louisville- I might post it. It was a horrible display of trailering...

Here it is- note the jackstand hovering about an inch off the pavement. And the coupler was "pinned" with a landscape/irrigation wire flag.

that is quality there i tell you. we strap all our stuff in, i have seen guys hang the whells of a walkbehind off the edge of the trailer to fit more stuff on it, that could be bad. get a bigger trailer morons

No no no you guys are ALL wrong. He is not doing anything wrong. He is trying to do the right thing. He's using the plywood to keep the walker from sliding off the back! If only he had a ratchet strap to hold that board on there then everything would be kosher!

err....wow.

You know, funny story though. One time I told my self that I was going to teach myself how to arc weld. Well I decided to teach myself by building gates on a huge 22ft long equipment trailer with those type of ramps. I just added on standard expanded metal gate portions to the insides and took off down the road...well... i must of used the wrong type of rod or something cut about a week later i lost one half of my ramp in the middle of the busiest intersection in the city and didn't notice until I was at the next house 15 minutes away. that was embarassing to pick up....

There was an incident near where I live where some guy was hauling a full size chipper through a main part of town. The chipper was not properly secured to the truck (chains crossed...proper size chain, trailer brakes...usual safety stuff we do with out a second thought) and it broke free from the truck. A father and three sons (two were twins) were headed the other way. After the impact only one of the infant sons was still alive.

That police department and the state troopers in that area have been merciless on trucks, trailers, inspections, and weights in that area for almost two years now.

They have gotten countless unsafe vehicles off the road and made numerous arrests of illegals (many w/o a license at all), drug dealers, and jerkwads that make us look bad.

I drive through there frequently and get many look overs, but never stopped. It pays to keep your stuff legal and safe.

It's not worth anyones life to save 35 seconds and not strap something down.

We are based out of Center Township, Beaver County. We work all over but try to stay in Allegheny or Beaver counties.

haha I once used a landscape flag to pin my trailer to get home after I lost the regular pin, better than half the people I see around here that don't even put a pin in

IntegrityGuy
02-11-2009, 01:17 PM
We never used pins until me and my dad and bro where on the highway with an empty trailer and the thing poped of and was yankin us around. Only put i tiny dent on his bumper but was bangin up the under body.

I also was mowing one time with my equipment on my 6x12 and i pulled down this alley, i hit a pot hole and i heard a big boom "thought nothing of it" and then the tongue of the trailer was dragging and hit another pot hole and stopped me. i was only going a couple mph so nothing broke but wow that would have broken something at 25+mph.

Always chain and use a pin

This was back in my rookie years. I loaded my trailer with concrete mostly in the back and forgot to latch the trailer and I saw it come off in me mirrior going up a hill and hit the brakes and slam. I a least I made good humor out of it. This was back in 1991. still haven't given up the tailgate because it's a good reminder for my crews:hammerhead:
