I'm designing a pole barn that I will most likely build this winter and a "shop" that is enclosed next winter. Those who have pics of their pole barns and would care to post I would like to see what you have.

Thanks.

what exactly do you mean by build it this winter and enclose it next? Are you only planning on building the roof first? I'm not trying to be a smart A$$ just trying to understand. I would like to get some pictures of mine (well my dads that i use) One thing I would recommend is build all the shelving, lofts etc. before moving anything in, or there is a good chance it will be an unorganized mess foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

This is similar to what I'm looking at building but probably with a single pitch roof. I'm figuring a 30' deep by 60' long structure with (5) 12' wide bays.

I would then build a separate enclosed building with a concrete floor, garage doors, heat, tools etc next year........probably 30'x40'.

Great idea I think. I too plan to have a setup like that in a few years. Only thing is I will have an office in front of it all.

No pics but i will tell you what we were gonna use to build ours but since i am moving out soon no need. WE were going to use used light poles that were like $30 a peice i think i might be wrong though but they were cheap so you save alot of money there and we were going to use peices of old barns from people around here who want there barns torn down. So only cost would be metal roof. But that is expensice itself.

looks like a good way to keep stuff out of the weather

There's a few saw mills I know of and plan to use rough cut lumber for construction vs Lowe's/Home Depot/84 stuff. Not that it really matters but a cool thing about rough cut is that a 2x4 is a true 2"x4" cut.

I have a shed like that but not quite that big. I used cedar posts and old tin from a torn down barn. Timber company logged our deer lease and pushed a bunch of big cedar trees down so I just used those. Not the prettiest thing, but it works and it was free.
