Excuse me but did you read the title of this forum b/4 posting?

The equipment you have described in this thread is not even close to commercial equipment.

It's pure junk and is not acceptable as commercial equipment.

Most likely you will be doing more damage than good and if you try and use this junk commercially you can expect a call from your state dept. of consumer affairs from a complaint from a "customer" (victim actually) that lawn was destroyed.

P.S. I should have never even replied. For I cannot delete my post. I just checked the profile of the thread started and he is a 15 year old boy.

Only one way to properly dethatch a lawn.

Power rake with a good flail reel.

Stone ease up on the Crapsmen we know you had to start some where with a crapsmen too.

NOT

Stone,
Be easy on the little ones. They have to play with their toy mowers too you know. Let them have their fun. They will be replaced by a pro LCO soon enough, when the customers get tired of the kiddie's tearing up their lawns!

Man, quit beating this guy up. Sure it's not commercial equipment, but it just goes to show you how gullible you are to believe anything with commerical slapped on the side is meant for the job.

The big, public traded companies are all demanding innovatative businessmen in their job slots, and that's why you mow lawns.

OK did i ever say i was gone use this on any ones lawn b/c mine and it doesn't tare it up it works just as well as a power rake i never ever would use any thing that would jeopardize a customers lawn but it worked well on my lawn and o only did a small part of it

Professor Stone I think before you waste your time attempting to educate such buffoonery as his initial post, you might be better suited trying to teach him proper grammar skills.

This way when he scribbles a proposal he wont embarrass himself any further -LOL!!!

I truly fail to see how it is that someone who cannot put forth the effort to correctly try to post a question is in any manner going to be able to withstand the drudgery associated with the back breaking, labor intensive task of Dethatching a lawn???

If that's the case Kris, why did you abbreviate "LOL" why not type it all the way out.

Laughing Out Loud!!!!

BTW dude it DOES NOT work as well as a power rake!!!!

That's why I make the big bucks and you are asking about it.

I stand behind my post of waste of money.

Running a spring over a lawn in a rotory motion in not good for the turf.

That is why they make power rake that run vertical to the turf.

Only thing yuo use that run rotory should be your blades.

When your right your right though. ;)

I will try to put forth the effort from now on -NOT!!!

Disclaimer: a flail style reel is a Dethatcher and the slicing style reel is Power rake.

I have only been a menber of this site since December, untill now I have read nothing but informational and well thought out posts. Even when people have disagreed it has not been so childish as what I have just read. I think U people should be ashmed of yourselves. This young man was only trying to get some advice, which is, or at least I thought until now, what this site is about. You should all remember that this site is open for anyone to read, this would include your customers.

UUUmmm ok:rolleyes:

Can you be so generous and tell us what the real differance is?

Power Rake is a dethatching tool, hence the name "dethatcher".

Flail is a style of reel for a power rake/dethatcher. Many many swinging blades.

Slicer is a Vertislice. which has non swinging baldes, hence the name "slice". Which cut into the ground so you can either put seed and/or cut the root system up on shallow rooting grass types.

Need I go on?

I worked at a golf course for a little over a year. The owners yard was in bad need of thatching. This place had every piece of equipment except for a thatcher. You'd think they would rent one for us. They gave us some of those springs, we slapped them on a toro and went to town. You are correct they do work surprisingly good. The only problem is that they wear down, so we used like 3 sets of those springs. Im not saying these springs are better than a real thatcher, because they arent, but it got the job done with good results and we hauled away a ton of thatch.
